Letter From the President
Thank you for your continued support of First Community Credit Union. As a member owned cooperative, we are successful when our members are financially successful. We had many positive changes that occurred in 2018 including:
Record loan growth of over $14.5 million
Complete overhaul of the mortgage department, increasing the products offered and retaining servicing on fixed rate mortgages
Enabled online loan applications and complete account opening through the Internet
• Instant issue of debit cards from our Beloit office

In addition to the positive changes, here are some great accomplishments your credit union achieved in 2018:

  • Donated over $36,000 and 450 volunteer hours
  • Helped 104 members purchase their dream home
  • Granted $77,000,000 in new loans; and
  • Added over 3,000 new members

The changes will continue in 2019. We are debuting a new mobile banking app that will provide the ability to deposit checks electronically. Other system enhancements include a new home banking site and bill pay product. We are also enhancing our credit card program to bring the cards in-house, which means better access to your card activity and account information which will be included on your monthly statements. These enhancements are based upon the results of our member surveys, so that’s why I encourage you to reach out to me with all of your comments and suggestions. We are trying to build FirstCCU into the best credit union in the Stateline area.

Please feel free to contact me directly at jkgill@firstccu.com or 800-828-5923.

Sincerely,

Jack K. Gill, President

Most Successful Bulb Drive Ever!
Each November a bare holiday tree is put up in the lobbies where members and credit union staff “purchase” a bulb to decorate the trees. We run the annual bulb donation drive throughout all branch locations to support the communities we live and work in during the holiday season.

Our Bulb Drive began shortly after Thanksgiving and this year's efforts collected a record amount in donations. Plus, after the credit union matched every dollar donated, the total came in at $7,836.24. Listed below are the local non-profit organizations and amounts donated by branch:

Janesville - Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin $3,443.12

Monroe - Green County Food Pantry $781.00

Rockford - Rescue Mission $917.00
The credit union would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who donated! Your generosity helped make a huge difference in our local communities during the holidays!

Tax Planning - ROTH or Traditional IRA

Tax filing for 2018 begins soon. One common tool that people use when filing their taxes is an Individual Retirement Account or IRA. Specifically, there is a lot of buzz around ROTH IRAs and their advantages. However, which one is truly best for you in saving taxes?
That answer depends on each person's individual situation as not everyone should be using a ROTH. Some people have greater benefits from a Traditional IRA and some need both. Especially if you are on the healthcare exchange, these retirement accounts can be very beneficial. Speak with Kenneth Courts, a Senior Tax Advisor for FirstCCU members and find out which works best for you and why.

Learn from a professional how important it is to be informed, have piece of mind, and a plan for your future.

Contact Kenneth Courts at (262) 510-2226, kcourts@focusedtaxsolutions.com to schedule an appointment today!

ATTENTION MEMBERS:

All lobbies will be closed on Monday, February 18th for staff training.
