Commissioner Small requested that pet owners try to keep a better watch on their pets. Several have recently become loose. Pet owners should also make sure their pets are tagged or chipped so they can be easily returned. Commissioner Small also stated if you see something the City needs to address asap such as a water leak, stop sign down, etc. to please call the police department non-emergency number at 815-795-2131. Please do not post on social media and assume someone will see it.

Commissioner Scheib presented an Inter-Governmental Agreement with LaSalle County to stripe Rutland Street, and a portion of Canal Road come spring. Ayes, Hollenbeck, Kaminski, Small, Scheib, Buckingham.

We want to thank the Marseilles Elementary School for assisting us with the annual bus trip to Rotary Park in LaSalle to see the lights.

Residents of Timbers Edge spoke before the council regarding potential development and the purchase of their property. The City council has no information as to what plans are underway. With the exception of Timbers Edge, all the property purchased thus far IS NOT IN THE CITY LIMITS. This is a private company buying private property. The purchasing company has no need to communicate with the City unless they want to annex into the City. If they choose to do so, the City council would be their last step not their first. They would have to petition for annexation, then appear before the planning commission presenting their plans and discuss how annexed property would be zoned. The planning commission would then vote to recommend passage or denial of the request and send the recommendation to the City council. The purpose of the Planning and Zoning Commission is so that we have input from our residents as to the future of our community. These men and women are an asset to the City and serve on the board meeting monthly at zero compensation.

On Tuesday 01-07-24 the EPA was here to do a review of our water testing procedures and shadowed our own EPA Certified Testers. When all was said and done, we are in full compliance with the rules and regulations of the EPA.

Congratulations to our coloring contest winners! Laityn, Seth and Quinn!
