Alamitos Intermediate Welcomes 7th Graders to Campus

Alamitos Intermediate recently welcomed its newest 7th grade students during a fun-filled Orientation and AVID Summer Bridge Program!

Students spent the day getting to know their new campus, completing orientation activities, and building connections with classmates through engaging team-building experiences. From exploring campus resources to strengthening friendships before the first day of school, the program helped students begin their middle school journey with confidence and excitement!

GGUSD is committed to creating a strong start for every student by providing welcoming experiences that build belonging, confidence, and readiness for a successful school year!

GGUSD Welcomes Staff to the 2026-27 School Year

GGUSD hosted its annual Keynote Event to welcome staff back to the 2026-2027 school year with special performances by our talented high school students, staff from our Visual and Performing Arts and IT Departments as well as informative presentations from Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi and district associate and assistant superintendents that highlighted our district initiatives and successes around our three district goals (academic skills + personal skills = lifelong success).

The excitement for the new school year was palpable and we cannot wait to welcome students back on Monday, August 10. Thank you to our Board of Education President Bob Harden, Vice President Lan Nguyen and Trustees Teri Rocco and Walter Muneton who also attended to welcome staff into the new school year.

GGUSD Teachers Prep for the Upcoming School Year

During Super Week last week, GGUSD high school teams came together to strengthen one of the most important years in a student's educational journey—9th grade. Research shows that a strong freshman year plays a key role in helping students graduate on time and build a successful future. Educators collaborated across school sites to develop action plans, share promising practices, and strengthen the supports that help 9th graders thrive from day one.


This work was part of the Breakthrough Success Community (BTSC), a CORE Districts initiative focused on keeping ninth-grade students on track for graduation and college readiness by strengthening the transition to high school, adult collaboration, student relationships, school scheduling, and grading practices.

By planning with purpose, GGUSD is helping ensure every freshman has the support they need for success in high school and beyond

GGUSD Teachers & Staff Host Super Week

Last week as part of Super Week, GGUSD teachers built new strategies to support student success both academically and emotionally.

This professional learning session focused on mindfulness, giving educators practical tools to create calm, focused, and supportive classroom environments. Teachers explored ways to incorporate mindful activities into their daily routines to increase student engagement, strengthen well-being, and foster positive learning experiences for every student.

By investing in professional learning that supports the whole child, GGUSD continues to equip educators with meaningful strategies that help students thrive inside and outside the classroom.

Give your child a strong start in a caring, engaging learning environment! Our fee-based preschool program at Enders Elementary School still has openings for the 2026–27 school year.

Eligible children: Born September 2, 2022 – December 1, 2023

Program Highlights:

• Credentialed, caring teachers, play-based learning with a focus on early literacy and TK readiness
• Focus on academic, social, and emotional development
• Breakfast, lunch, and snack included
• School day: 8:15 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
• Tuition: $1,000/month
• Toilet training available for an additional fee.

Need help with tuition? We are an approved provider for both the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) and the Children's Home Society of California (CHS), and families may qualify for tuition assistance through these agencies.
