GLOBE WEEKLY NEWS
This is the best resource for staying in the know.
HEY GLOBE COMMUNITY

It was fabulous to see everyone at Orientation yesterday! A big thanks to our wonderful staff and PTCC volunteers who made the day a success.

Today’s email will take the place of this week’s Weekly Update. We will resume our Wednesday Weekly Updates next week.

As we move into this year at GLOBE, we are still navigating this pandemic. We really want to be in person this year. We are asking all students and staff to Know Your Status! If we can keep positive cases from entering GLOBE, we can keep teaching and learning in person. Information is still constantly changing and we are staying up to date with our partnership with Emory. Thank you for your flexibility as we forge forward with the school year 21/22. Click here for all things Covid related. The updated GLOBE Covid Playbook is here. Even though we are still in a pandemic, we are very much looking forward to this school year and the opportunity to teach your children. Go GLOBE!

In partnership,
Christi Elliott-Earby

Below are details for the first days of school.

Lower Campus:
Carpool begins at 7:30 AM and carpool closes at 8:10 AM.
Upper Campus:
Carpool begins moving at 7:30 AM and closes at 8:00 AM

Please review the information below to ensure our first days run smoothly!

Lower Campus Carpool:
  • LC arrival begins at 7:30 AM and carpool closes at 8:10 AM. Please follow tardy protocol if you do make it through the carpool line by 8:10 AM. LC dismissal begins at 2:35 p.m. Kindergarten parents: We are unable at this time to have parents walk their children to their classroom this year. All students will be dropped off at the door. We have staff there to help everyone get to the right place.

  • If you were never issued a carpool tag, e-mail Keyana McGlathery. LC students will have their tags placed in backpacks.

  • Lower Campus parents, afternoon carpool looks different from morning drop off! KINDERGARTEN carpool and students on Lower Campus with a Kindergarten sibling or Kindergartner in your carpool, approach the school from Briarcliff Road and make a RIGHT-HAND turn into the carpool loop. First, second, and third grade carpools without a Kindergarten sibling, approach the school from Meadowvale Drive and make a LEFT-HAND turn into the flagpole carpool loop.

Upper Campus Carpool:
  • AM Carpool:

  • As you come into the lot off of Briarcliff, please turn RIGHT and go around the tree. Once you turn around and are again paralleling Briarcliff, please form TWO lines. A staff member will be at the tree directing traffic back into a single line to go around the building.

  • Carpool begins moving at 7:30 AM and ends at 8 AM.

  • PM Carpool:

  • Please pull ALL the way up to the car in front of you, and please pay attention so that you can move up as space becomes available. We are trying to keep cars off of Briarcliff.
  • We are using a QR code for carpool pickup. Please have your camera app ready to scan the code. You will be asked to complete a form with your carpool number and your child's last name.
  • Please make sure your child knows their carpool number.

Carpool will be long tomorrow, morning and afternoon. Thank you in advance for your patience. Remember, there are new parents at both campuses that have never done this before - show CREST with everyone. We want to be good neighbors and not park/idle in front of driveways (They are trying to get their children to school also).

VISITOR POLICY

DCSD has announced the following DCSD Visitor and Volunteer Policy:
Out of an abundance of caution and due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, we will continue the visitor protocol that was in place for the 2020-2021 school year.
Visitors and volunteers will not be permitted in buildings until further notice. We will continue to monitor conditions and data provided by the Department of Public Health(DPH), the DeKalb County Board of Health (DBOH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). It is our sincere hope that conditions will improve, and we will be able to reopen our doors and benefit from the value that our committed volunteers add to our schools and centers.

Thank you to all our volunteers. We appreciate all that you do and could not be as successful without you. PTCC has many opportunities to volunteer (see below) and we are working on ways that you can help outside or virtually.
