The story of XWA has been one of complications, delays and last minute preparation, but also of the indomitable spirit of the Williston community, specifically it's city leaders, who have worked for nearly a decade to get the airport operational. Williston Economic Development - More than 4,000 Williston area residents toured the new Williston Basin International Airport on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5. A special dedication ceremony was held for VIPs on Friday (see the video above) while XWA was open to the public on Saturday. Thousands toured the sprawling terminal, sampled food and drinks provided by Coca Cola Bottling of Williston, Eleven, Meg-a-Latte, Oakwells and Smiling Moose Deli. There were also free t-shirts, grab bags and much more!

Williston Herald - On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, federal, state and local officials celebrated the completion of Williston Basin International Airport, which is scheduled to officially open when the first flight lands on Thursday, Oct. 10.  The airport, known by its International Air Transport Association code of XWA, is the first airport located at a new site to open in nearly a decade. STAR Fund allocates $152,000 to Seven Projects
VRkade is located in the Harvest Plaza near Meg-a-Latte and Exhale Yoga & Wellness. 
Williston Economic Development - A new virtual reality arcade is coming to Williston. The Williston City Commission approved up to $5,000 for VRkade, LLC, a business startup, at its October 8, 2019 meeting. The commission also approved STAR Fund requests for six other projects totalling $147,000. Owner Heath Crawford said VRkade will offer virtual reality gaming and business training. "It is truly an indescribable event that is akin to relearning how to use your senses and realizing how to walk and see the world with a new set of eyes," said Crawford. Read More

Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger announced October 9 that North Dakota's taxable sales and purchases for the second quarter of 2019 are up nearly 8.4%.
News Release - Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger has announced that North Dakota's taxable sales and purchases for the second quarter of 2019 are up nearly 8.4%. Second quarter taxable sales and purchases were up 6.34% in Williston and 6.09% in Williams County. Williams County's taxable sales and purchases rose from 423,659,194 in 2018 to 449,451,615 in 2019 while Williston's increased from $402,042,984 to $427,535,297. Read More
McKenzie County Public Works Building celebrates Grand Opening
McKenzie County Farmer - McKenzie County officials celebrated the ribbon cutting and grand opening for their 67,000 square foot public works facility on October 1, 2019. T he McKenzie County Public Works Building includes offices for five county departments - the Roads and Bridges department, the Water Resource District, Planning and Zoning, GIS and the Weed Control Department, along with office space for the Western Area Water Supply Authority.  For the full story, subscribe to the McKenzie County Farmer
CVB seeks More Tourists through Facebook Live on Thursdays

Williston Herald - In an attempt to connect further with the community and the region, the Williston Convention and Visitors Bureau is taking to social media to get people involved and excited about what the area has to offer. Ashley Oyloe and Sabrina Rameyhave recently begun their "Visit Williston Live" series, taking to Facebook Live to broadcast from various locations around town to give a more in-depth look at what there is to do in the community. Read More
