This is Compton's autobiographical journey of finding home in a series of paintings and drawings. Each piece serves as a visual poem that capturing the nuances of his disrupted entry into adulthood, catalyzed by the impact of Covid-19, ultimately culminating in the heartfelt return to his roots in Alabama.

The Eastern Shore Art Center is blessed with a plethora of talented local artists who regularly submit their work for display in the ESAC Members' Sales Gallery.


Karen Roloson leads a committed group of volunteers who administer the member gallery change-outs. Her volunteers were on hand December 29th to greet and assist member artists with the end-of-year gallery changeout. They were there to make sure all new submissions were correctly catalogued and that all past submissions were collected by the artists.

Winter Classes Begin Next Week!



SPOTLIGHT: INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED POTTERY with Kyle Potts

Jan 9 thru Mar 5, 2024

Every TUESDAY night @ 5:30 to 8:30 pm

Price: $215 ($195 ESAC Members*)



Improve your wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques, even combine these two in this intermediate to advanced class. Weekly projects will be demonstrated by Kyle with each student’s interpretation expressed in their own work. Surface treatment such as handles, textures, slips and glaze will be discussed to create well-balanced pieces. All class firings are cone 5 electric with additional cost for wood firing as an option.

UPCOMING WORKSHOP: COASTAL CLASSICS 

Intro to Woodburning with Daniel Bertagnolli


January 13, 2024 @ 10am to 4pm

Price: $150 ($140 ESAC Members*)



In this workshop, you will learn the basics of how to utilize a woodburning tool safely and craft a piece of art on wood. Included in the workshop is the application of watercolor to your wood burned creation to bring your piece to life!

SCULPT MARDI GRAS MASKS & HEADS!

This course offers the student of all levels an introduction to a clay study of the face along with the inspiration of Mardi Gras to create masks and character heads. Students will be provided direct sculptural references created by instructor, as well as selected photos to capture the unique expression of the subject matter, all while exploring their imagination towards a creation of their own design.


Each student should have a completed sculpture which will be ready for firing at the end of this workshop.
