CLASS SPOTLIGHT: For the Love of Good Writing

Instructor: Sonny Brewer

Thursdays 5:30-8:30pm (March 23 - May 11)

$200 ($180 for ESAC Members)

In this lecture course, with question-and-answer sessions, Sonny will share with the class his own experience with writing, which includes input from, and interaction with, a long list of other authors around the South. The classes are meant to help writers write better, whether fiction or non-fiction, and to become a better judge of what’s good writing and what’s not. This course is not a workshop. Bring a pen and paper (or an electronic device) for note-taking and practice.

WORKSHOP SPOTLIGHT: Painting Loose (Watercolors)

Instructor: John Halliday

March 24 - 25 @ 10am-4pm

$250 ($225 for ESAC Members)

Painting with watercolor in a loose fashion takes confidence, which comes with time. In this workshop we will practice skills to expedite the process of loosening up, painting efficiently and with intention. Topics covered will include value studies, efficiency of strokes, mixing colors, and winning the struggle to leave white space on your paper. Instead of struggling to control the paint, we will partner with water and gravity. This allows for new and creative experiences while producing beautiful artwork. Emphasis will be placed on making the process an enjoyable discovery and confidence building experience.
