Faith Revell

Bloom

Faith Revell, Light at My Window: Reptilian, oil on canvas, 36" x 24" $1,200

Artist Statement

This new group of oil paintings is inspired by changing light and ensuing form. Imagery, rooted in light, then enveloped in color, blooms.

For several months, I have been intrigued by the play of light and shadow at my windows. Plants line the sills. Sunlight warms the frames. Flowers, leaves and stems appear as soft gray shapes on a muslin curtain that hangs out front. Forms stretch and shift over time and slowly disappear.

In Valdez, Alaska, where I live, I hike through forests and follow trails that cut through tall stands of spruce and hemlock, and I observe a radiant flow that filters through the treed canopy in a slant onto my path.

I imagine, and then paint otherworldly places where light exists in surprising form.

Carolyn Strand

Wearable Art

Carolyn Strand, Silk Garments, No two alike. All are hand painted and printed in the sun.

Kimono, $200; Tunic style vests, $175; Jackets, $225

Artist's Statement

All of the garments and accessories, both quilted and cyanotype, have been created by Carolyn Strand. For the quilted pieces, Carolyn purchases fabric during her travels worldwide.

The photographs used to print the cyanotype images on the fabric have all been taken by the artist and the sunprinted fabrics have also been hand painted and printed by the artist. Each garment and accessory is unique and is an original art piece.

Invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel, cyanotype is one of the first permanent photographic processes, and one of the oldest. It is a non-silver photographic that produces a distinctive blue print.

Come by and have fun trying on a garment or two!

“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.” — Dorothea Lange

Engaging in nature photography offers moments that feel sacred, connecting us to the larger world and evoking a profound sense of awe, wonder, and gratitude for the incredible beauty that surrounds us.

My work in nature photography encompasses both a thrill and challenge. The anticipation of a moose raising its head under a moonlit sky, the exhilaration of witnessing a pink-hued sunrise as the full moon sets over Sleeping Lady, or Denali's majestic emergence against a backdrop of vibrant blue skies and radiant fireweed—all fill me with joy and present the challenge of accurately capturing those fleeting moments in time.

My goal is to preserve the interplay of colors, light, and moods of the scenes that I witness, be they serene or humorous. Equipping myself with the right lenses and settings in the moment and investing time and care into the editing process, I aim to share these extraordinary moments with you.

I hope that this show allows you to participate in these special encounters and transports to you to the spectacular surroundings of Alaska.

Net proceeds from sales from this exhibit will benefit the Alaska Eating Disorders Alliance (www.akeatingdisordersalliance.org), a non-profit organization Beth co-founded. AKEDA aims to improve access to effective and compassionate care for individuals battling these life-threatening illnesses. By supporting this exhibition, you contribute to a cause that truly makes a difference.

New Work: Floral Crush

There will not be an opening reception for this exhibit.

Tracy Anna Bader, Alaskan Fireweed 1, mixed aqua media on cotton, 10” x 10" $300

Artist Statement

This colorful exhibit of original paintings is inspired by my enduring love of flora and finding comfort in painting flowers! It embodies my exuberant spirit and enjoyment for painting, creating and being immersed in nature, relationships and simply life itself! Energetic movement is captured in each piece, whereby I’ve intuitively painted with feeling and emotion. For me, this eloquently natural technique, where I use bold brushstrokes, iridescence, mixed media and a free palette of color, creates vibrant impressionistic works full of pattern, soft texture and detail. I hope you’ll enjoy viewing this lively exhibit as much as I have enjoyed creating it to share with you.
