First Graduations in Guatemala!

Greetings Ministry Partners,

God has done some amazing things in Central America over the past three years, which have finally come to fruition. We started our first class in Coatepeque, Guatemala, three years ago with 12 students. Within three months, we started our second class in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. In June, both of these classes graduated. These are Crossing Cultures International’s first classes to graduate in all of Central America. Eighteen (18) students completed all 10 books, have graduated, and are ready to start classes of their own. This is an amazing feat, especially since these classes were started during the pandemic. Most of their classes were completed under the pandemic protocols of the Guatemalan Government.

God is also blessing the work in Belize and Honduras. In Belize, we have two classes with 15 students. The class in Belize City has completed Book #3, and the class in South Belize will start Book #2 this month. There are also two classes in Honduras, one in San Pedro Sula and one in El Progresso. The class in El Progresso has 20 students and has completed Book #2.

Our staff in Guatemala is leading the work in these two new countries, and we are asking God to raise up an able man in Belize and Honduras to take charge of the work in these two nations. I ask you to join us in prayer, asking the Lord to fill these positions for His work and for His Glory.

We appreciate your prayers and support.

Guatemala

Last month, I traveled to Guatemala to conduct our first two CCI graduations. On June 1, we graduated a class of 10 in Quetzaltenango. Then, on June 2, we graduated eight (8) students in Coatepeque. Otto Echeverria, our Country Coordinator, assisted in conducting the graduation in Coatepeque.

Coatepeque Graduation

We are praying that by September, we will have 20 active classes in Guatemala. Currently, Otto is teaching two classes. Hamid Gutiérrez, our Regional Coordinator, continues to teach several classes and has prepared one of his graduates to start a new class in Cantel, Guatemala, this month.

In addition to the two graduations held in Guatemala, CCI President Dr. David Nelson conducted a Seminar on Advanced Expository Preaching (SAEP) in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Hamid (pictured far right) was instrumental in organizing the SAEP.

Belize

From June 1-7, three teachers, two from Alabama and one from Georgia, traveled to Belize to teach Book #3. This class added one student and has now started Book #4.

Honduras

Keith Arnold, the Area Coordinator of Mexico, joined me in El Progresso, Honduras, to teach Book #2 from June 20 to 27. We had 20 students complete the class. (Class is pictured below.) Misael and Macellino are the two local leaders heading up this effort in El Progresso. We are praying for the Lord to lead us to the right person in Honduras to lead the ministry in this nation.

Prayer Requests & Praises

  • Pray that the new graduates in Guatemala will go through a Teacher Training Workshop (TTW) and begin classes in their towns.
  • Pray that the Lord will raise up a local leader to oversee the ministry in Honduras.
  • Pray that the Lord will raise up a local leader in Belize to oversee the ministry.
  • Praise the Lord for my national staff, Otto, Hamid, and Charlotte, who were instrumental in assisting with the graduations, seminars, and logistics during my recent trip.
