-- Week of June 23, 2021 --
This Weekend
This Sunday, join us as we conclude the sermon series A New Spirit, where we see how the Holy Spirit transforms people into disciples of Christ. This week, we will be studying the conversion of Lydia, a successful businesswoman who sold purple goods (Acts 16:11-15). The scripture tells us that she heard Paul speak, and through the Holy Spirit, the Lord opened her heart to heed. We are excited to share Lydia's transformation of faith!

Volunteers are needed to serve the children in our community. A church representative should be present each Wednesday. If you will help, please e-mail Sue at [email protected]

Very Best Summer 2021
July 26 - 29 | 9 AM - 12 Noon

Your child is invited to come take a journey this summer like never before to the North Castle, a magical place hidden in a frozen land. Under orders from the King, these valiant knights will head out on a quest in search of the King’s Armor. But the armor isn’t what they think it is.
Your child will take a moment to explore the Old and New Testament of the King's Book, where they will discover different pieces of protective armor—the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Justice, the Shoes of Peace, the Shield of Faith, and the Helmet of Salvation—at work in the lives of familiar Bible characters, and explore how that armor works in their own lives as they follow and serve God.
Don’t miss a chance to come take up the gauntlet this summer and accept the challenge to “armor up” and be strong by remaining with God and sharing God’s love in a world that needs it more than ever. Registration is now open. *There is limited space this year.

Please email [email protected] to receive the Zoom meeting invitation link.

Memorial Butterfly Garden

In 2007, Holton, the son of Kathy and Shawn Spradley, and grandson of David and Darlene Florence died as a result of S.I.D.S. In Holton’s memory, a memorial butterfly garden was created behind the Family Life Center. Within the garden are flowers that attract butterflies and a beautiful statue of a little boy holding an airplane, donated by Theresa Agler. Suzi Guckel tends to the garden. If you have any questions or would like to help tend to the garden, please contact Suzi ([email protected]).

Farewell...Not Goodbye!

Rev. Ishmael Mathiu has completed his studies at SMU Perkins School of Theology and has completed 9 months of his OPT (Optional Practical Training) at Oasis Global United Methodist Mission in Dallas. He has been offered and has accepted an appointment at Lake Ann United Methodist Church, Lake Ann, Michigan. We honored Ishmael and his family with a Farewell Dinner on Friday, June 18. The moving van came on Saturday and the family left Monday, the 21st.

The Mathiu family wants First Grapevine to know that they will always consider us their parent church. They are so grateful for all First Grapevine has done to help them throughout their journey. They have made lifelong relationships and wish God’s blessings for us. We are grateful for each of them and wish Ishmael, Mercy, Mattathias, & Joy safe travels and a joyful experience in Lake Ann!
