September 4, 2020
Church,

I pray that you are doing well and enjoying this incredible rain! In fact, I am pretty sure it is because of First Methodist that it has fallen. Last Sunday at our revival service on the lawn of the Main Campus, Johnny Mankin lifted up a prayer for rain and the way the Spirit is moving at that lively worship, I’m not surprised at all by our deluge!!

As we head into Labor Day weekend, I want to give you some encouragement. Though things remain decidedly abnormal in the world, God has not changed one bit. He is the same today as he was yesterday and will be the same tomorrow. His consistency gives us strength, comfort and fortitude to persevere.

I am so excited about all that September will bring to Waco through First Methodist. We will be offering more opportunities in more places to worship Jesus than ever before! This crisis has stirred us to listen to the Spirit in all new ways. In addition to what we are already doing, we will be adding a Family service, Neighborhood Pop-Up worship services, Gospel Brunch at the Hippodrome, and much more.

In discipleship we are launching bite size Bible Study via podcast and You Tube, will be offering mid-week Bible Study throughout the week in hybrid (in person & online) format, and launching a series of 8 week discipleship small groups facilitated by our senior clergy and staff. All of this is in addition to the numerous, ongoing Sunday school classes, small groups, and Bible studies at First.

IF YOU HAVEN’T YET, please be sure to subscribe to our channel at www.youtube.com/firstwaco to get great devotional content, bite size Bible studies, worship to share with the world, updates on the church’s activities, and more! Simply click on that link and when you get there push “subscribe” and the little bell that will alert you when new content goes up!

Our Drive-by backpack blessing was a huge success with more than 100+ kids blessed. More than the number of people we saw though was the amount of intentional time we got to spend with each family. Kids were prayed over, blessed, and laughed. What a joy!

Friends, I know there is a lot of anxiety out there and we are getting antsy in the uncertainty, but trust me: God is Big Enough for this moment! What’s more, He is helping our church thrive! I am counting on you to double down in your commitment to Christ and First. I believe that now is the moment God has been preparing you for – to lift this church that has lifted you for so long! The Lord is giving us the chance to selflessly position our church to meet the needs of the least and lost in Waco right now – in the moment they need us most! Won’t you jump in and connect for Christ?

In Christ,
Ryan
