Rev. Berry French
Pastor Berry joined us last week to serve as our Interim Associate Pastor. He will be primarily working in the areas of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and will also do some pastoral care and work with new member assimilation. Berry will typically be in the in the office Sunday through Wednesday and can be reached by calling the church office or emailing him directly at [email protected]

Visitor Breakfast
January 26th

We invite visitors and those interested in learning more about our congregation to a First Pres Breakfast on Sunday, January 26. We will gather for food, fellowship and information sharing at 10 am in the Mount Tabor Room (near the downstairs elevator). For more information, please contact Whitney Moss , Pete Peery or Gail Hermann.

We will be hosting families in the Interfaith Hospitality Network the week of February 9th - 16th. We invite you to join us as we offer hospitality and welcome these homeless families as they make our church their home for the week. You can help with unloading the IHN trailer, setting up beds and rooms, preparing meals, coming to sit with families in the evening, and spend the night. We hope you’ll consider joining us as we offer welcome. Thank you for your continued and faithful giving to the Backpack Buddies Pantry. Your donations and support allow us to pack bags of food to supplement weekend meals for Dunbar and Greer Middle students.  Our current pantry needs are: juice boxes and pouches, pop tarts, easy mac, beefaroni, ravioli, spaghetti-o’s.

Confirmation will begin next week, January 19th, and run for 8 weeks. This is a time for 8th graders and any older youth who have not already to participated to explore their faith and the Presbyterian faith through study and service. Those participating will meet in the Youth Center at 10:00 on Sunday mornings and will finish up with a retreat March 13-15th. Confirmation Sunday will be on March 22, 2020. If you have any questions about Confirmation please reach out to Val Hendrickson or Berry French.
This Summer, August 2-7, 2020, Mid-High Youth will travel to Charlotte to participate in CROSS Missions. Groups from FPCG have participated in this mission opportunity for several years now and have had great opportunities to learn, serve and grow together.

A deposit of $50 is due to Victoria Melin by January 26th. To learn more about the trip please reach out to Victoria or visit the CROSS Website .
Come join us in beautiful Montreat, NC for a weekend filled with JOY! This retreat will be from March 20-22nd, current high school students are invited, and the total cost is $100 (scholarships may be available). This will include meals, housing, programming, and a t-shirt. Please email  [email protected] , or tell Victoria or Berry if you are interested.
The Personnel Committee of First Presbyterian Church is seeking a part-time children's ministry staff person. If you know of anyone that may be interested please have them reach out to Maggie Wentzky.
