Updates for the week of Oct. 26:
Like much of Wisconsin, Racine County remains in the “very high” risk category and continues to see a surge in COVID-19 cases. It is essential that Racine County residents do their part to prevent further disease transmission, including staying home unless necessary, wearing a face covering in public, and maintaining social distancing.
Dear members and friends of First, we, your Session, have been planning for the day when we can once again worship safely in our sanctuary. Unfortunately, that day will not be as soon as many of us had hoped. As you can see from the above announcement from the City of Racine, we are in a state of “very high risk.” We are monitoring the city guidelines and as soon as we are in a lower risk category, we will offer worship in our sanctuary. In the meantime, we will continue to offer live Zoom services Sundays mornings at 9:30AM and recorded services available any time after 12:00AM Sundays via YouTube or Facebook.
We are aware that some other congregations have been offering worship for the past few months by limiting the number of participants and requiring masks and social distancing. We discussed doing the same, but with the recent surge in COVID cases in Racine, we believe it is wise and prudent to wait until the risk factor is lower. We do not want to put anyone at risk. We also want to set an example of responsibility to encourage others to take COVID 19 seriously and do what is necessary to stop the spread of the virus, even if it is inconvenient or uncomfortable.
Jesus tells us there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. We do not need to lay down our lives to stop the spread of the virus, just stay home, wear masks when we must go out, practice social distancing, and wash our hands often. And if we do that, and require those around us to do the same, we can greatly reduce the number of cases and all return to a more normal life sooner rather than later.
We will continue to monitor the city’s guidelines and as soon as it is safe to do so, we will offer worship in our sanctuary.
Yours in faith and hope,
The Session

Volunteers are needed to keep our food pantry running. If you can donate three to four hours of your time, it would be greatly appreciated by the other volunteers and for the community we are helping.
Please contact LuAnn, for more information. And thank you!

We are trying to get recordings of the youth (and our seniors), from our church, singing Happy Birthday. The recordings will be used the first Sunday of each month. It is our hope that the children feel like they are involved in the service. It is also a great way for us to promote intergenerational diversity.
Do you know someone who would like to take part in it? If so, make a video recording of them singing. The video should be recorded in landscape-mode (i.e. horizontally).
Feeling camera shy? Do an audio recording and we'll use a graphic. And since it's intergenerational, you're welcome to sing along with them!
Then contact Shelley to find out the best way to share it with the church. Remember to include the first names of those singing.
And check out today's service to see who is singing Happy Birthday this month!
Thank you!

ArtStart is a program involving underserved citizens, giving them a chance to participate in the arts in ways that might not otherwise be possible. During the COVID 19 pandemic, The Pillars Assisted Living residents have been “locked in” to keep them safe so we created the signboard project for them. Each resident drew and painted their very own design. We are very grateful to the The DeKoven Center for supporting their work by installing the “Walk in the Woods” Outdoor Gallery for the community to share.
Artists: Tammy, Sonny, Donna, Judy, Jackie, Robin, Joan, Marlene, Denise, Gene, Jean, Sheila, Susan & Frank
Thank you to The Pillars Activities Director & RAC Board Member - Karen Shults.
