  • Voting on congregational representatives for the 2026 Nominating Committee

  • Receiving, as information, the 2026 budget already approved by the Session

Per Capita

Per capita for 2026 is $41.00 per person. If you would kindly note “per capita” on the memo line of your check, we would appreciate it.

We want to ensure that everyone understands that per capita apportionments are not “dues.” We don’t “charge” dues. A per capita payment simply means that you would like to contribute to the amount that First Pres is assessed by the PC(USA) to support big picture goals and objectives. Our local church doesn’t keep a dime of per capita contributions. We send it on to the denomination where it’s used for these purposes:

  • It is how Presbyterians are trained to become better ruling elders, teaching elders and deacons, and ministers.
  • It is how Presbyterians are helped to discern God's call in their lives.
  • It is how Presbyterians participate in the life of the wider church by serving committees and commissions, regardless of distance or financial resources.
  • It is how Presbyterians participate in the life of the Church universal as we commit ourselves to work and live in fellowship with “all persons in every nation” (Book of Order G-4.0101).

So, today, let’s put to rest the myth that per capita is a dues assessment AND/OR that it equals being part of our local faith community. Yes, we encourage per capita contributions because they free up our resources for local missions and sustenance of our congregation. But, if you don’t feel called to offer per capita, you’ll still get our newsletter, you’ll still receive announcements, and most importantly, you’ll still be a beloved part of our flock.

Oshkosh Repair Café

If you've never visited a Repair Café, you haven't experience how different things are when people are helping people in a relaxed and fun atmosphere! Great vibes!

In 2025, the Café had over 200 people bring in more than 300 items at their three Repair Cafe events. Items were fixed (nearly 70% of the time), networking happened, friendships forged and strengthened, lessons were learned, knowledge exchanged, and our community grew that much stronger this year.

By the way, for the January Café, no small engines or bicycles will be accepted. And something that you may not know - you don't need to be a resident of Oshkosh to bring in your items for repair or be a volunteer fixer!

Attention potential volunteer fixers! If you'd like to know more about how your skills and talents can be used at a Repair Café event, send an email to RepairCafeOshkosh@gmail.com.

Presbyterians in Pittsburgh Presbytery erase $14 million of families’ medical debts

The presbytery’s ‘Matthew 25 on the Move’ coalition exceeded its fundraising goal by $10,000

December 18, 2025 | Pittsburgh Presbytery | Presbyterian News Service

In the new year, thousands of Allegheny County residents will get letters telling them that the medical debt that has been hanging over the heads has been wiped out — paid for by contributions from the members of the 117 churches in Pittsburgh Presbytery.

Over the past few months, those Presbyterian church members have donated nearly $75,000 as part of a campaign with the national nonprofit group Undue Medical Debt — enough to eliminate more than $14 million in outstanding bills. The coalition has exceeded its initial goal to raise $65,000 and the campaign is still open through the end of 2025 for those who would like to erase burdensome medical debts for their community.

Undue Medical Debt purchases medical debts belonging to those least able to pay from health care providers and other organizations for pennies on the dollar, meaning every one dollar donated erases $100 or more of medical debt. But unlike commercial bill collectors, the group doesn’t badger people to pay off the debt themselves. Instead, it finds organizations and individuals who are willing to donate money to eliminate these debts. In Pennsylvania, nearly 1 in 15 adults carries medical debt. In Allegheny County, which includes Pittsburgh, the average person with medical debt in collections carries a balance of nearly $1,000.

The Pittsburgh Presbytery campaign was spearheaded by its Matthew 25 On The Move ministry team, a group that embraces Jesus’ commandment to provide care to the “least of these.” Part of the group’s mission is to address systemic poverty, a purpose which is served by this campaign. The Rev. Dr. Judith Slater, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne and a leader of the Matthew 25 group, said that the impact of the donations is tremendous.

“Undue tells us that people who have received this debt relief in the past often have trouble believing it is real, for it seems too good to be true,” Slater said. “But once they realize it is real, they often say that it feels like a huge weight has been lifted from them and they can move forward in their lives and have a chance for a new life.” Read more.
