SEPTEMBER MISSION OF THE MONTH

Autumn Marshall (Five Star Global Ministries)

Autumn grew up in Western Pennsylvania. As a sophomore in college she had an opportunity to got to Haiti on a short-term mission trip and fell in love with the special needs children and realized how her skills as an Occupational Therapist could greatly change their lives. She decided to spend summers and eventually 3 months a year in Haiti using what she was learning to change lives 1 child at a time. In 2012 she moved full-time to Haiti, working at the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission. Her focus from the beginning was helping empower parents of children with disabilities to keep their children verses placing them in orphanages. Several years later Autumn felt led to branch out on her own and started Five Star Global Ministries. Her mission is “make the Invisible…Visible through Christ…Children…Community…To fight and advocate for the needs and rights of special needs children in Haiti…and to empower nationals and families to care for these children as God would. One part of this vision is to train nationals in the fields of occupational and physical therapy. This year has been an exciting time as Autumn was able to move the ministry where patient services are provided into a newer bigger building in the town of Port de Paix. 5 STAR believes in a holistic approach and currently has 15 different programs to ensure we can fill in the gaps where families need our support. In 2019 our congregation had the privilege to hear Autumn share her mission experiences with us in person during a Sunday service. Many in our congregation were wowed by her dedication and stamina through many challenges she faces in Haiti.
