A Moment For Missions From FPA

This Sunday, April 23, First Presbyterian Academy will participate in the Moment for Missions and portions of both worship services at First Presbyterian Church. 

  • Head of School Tom Roe will deliver a brief message about The Academy to the congregation
  • Junior Drew Cope will provide the Pastoral Prayer
  • Juniors Sophia Alakbarova and Megan McGovern will do the Scripture Readings

This will be a wonderful way to share the good news of our school to the community of First Presbyterian Church!

FINE ARTS NEWS

Upper School Spring Concert

Daybreak is the title for this year’s Upper School spring concert featuring the Middle School Choir, Concert Choir and Percussion ensemble. The performance will be on Tuesday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary (200 W. Washington Street.)

A Spring Evening Of One Act Plays!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 4 or Friday, May 5, for spring drama performances. Both productions will be held at the Kroc Center on 424 Westfield Street. The cost for the evening is $10 for adults/$5 for students. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.

In this dystopian/Hunger Games parody everyone is starving...for attention! During the annual Actor Games, a tribute from each district competes to become a star. The losers must suffer the dreaded fate of the Fallback Wheel.  Come see this fast-paced one-act play that provides lots of comedy, as well as a humorous overview of modern and historic acting methods.

UPPER SCHOOL NEWS

Junior/Senior Prom

“A Night To Remember” is the theme for this year’s Junior/Senior Prom to be held this Friday, April 21, from 8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. at the Randall House in Greer. Tickets are $20 in advance and may be purchased from Mrs. Blair at the Main Reception Desk. Date forms are required for non-FPA students and can be picked up from Mrs. Thompson or Mrs. Blair.

Lower School Art Show Success!

Thank you to all of the students, teachers and families who participated in and helped with the FPA Lower School Art Show! Professional judges viewed each piece of art to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each grade level. A Best of Show winner was also awarded for grade level divisions K3 - K4, Kindergarten -2nd Grade and 3rd - 5th Grade.

Downtown Campus Art Show

First Presbyterian Academy Downtown will hold The Wonders of God’s Creation Art Show on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

Drop-in from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Downtown Campus on

200 W. Washington Street (In the Fellowship Hall).

 

See the brand, new Downtown playground and browse The Wonders of God’s Creation Art Show!

  • Parents will be able to purchase their child’s artwork for a minimum donation of $20. 
  • Class projects will be auctioned off to the highest bidder during the evening’s Silent Auction!
  • A pizza dinner and bake sale will be available.

 

All proceeds will go to Art supplies for the school.

Ms. Barnhill and Ms. Oxner’s K3 class have been studying butterflies. Four class caterpillars became beautiful butterflies and students released them into the sunny, spring weather!

K3 student Price Howell proudly displays the butterfly he painted. 

4th Grade IGNITE Gifted Program students recently experienced being archaeologists, excavating items from dig and discover kits.

Connor Cherry and Abigail Eickhoff show off their discoveries.
