Faith Family,
Though we have not yet felt the heat of a typical Texas summer, the hum of cicadas proclaim that summer is without a doubt here. A Texas summer has sweetly ripened melon and other fruit, big ol’ shade trees, sandals and shorts, gatherings of friends and family, and of course – Ice Cream. Nothing quite says summer like friends and family enjoying games, Hot Dogs, and Ice Cream!
Come and celebrate our “Sumer Extravaganza” this Sunday, July 18 @5:30pm in the HUB. We will enjoy a time of church-wide fellowship celebrated with hot dogs, ice cream, and tables games such as Farkle. You are invited to come share food and laughs with us as we fellowship with one another as the Body of Christ. Hot dogs will be provided, but please bring ice cream with you should you attend. If you are an ice cream connoisseur, feel free to bring your favorite homemade version to share. If you just like to eat ice cream, then bring Blue-Bell or whatever you consider to be the best ice cream out there! And if you don’t know what Farkle is – you’re in for a treat! We will provide a set instructions to each table at the Extravaganza… Farkle has a special place in the heart of the First Hewitt staff.
Remember… we have been given such a gift of grace in Christ Jesus… a gift that changes us each individually and as a community. It is so easy to forget that while we desperately need Christ… we also need each other. And he has graciously provided us with one another in the Body of Christ!
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:23–25 (ESV)
See you Sunday at the “SUMMER EXTRAVAGANZA!” Cost is free, but donations will be welcome!
May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always,
Sam Johnson
