Faith Family -

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…. Even earlier than normal.

It’s hard to drive through our neighborhood and not see all the Christmas lights. The old rule of waiting until after Thanksgiving to decorate appears to have gotten an exemption this year. I can’t say I blame anybody! I think we all need something to celebrate this year! However, I must admit…. I don’t want us to miss Thanksgiving!

Ephesians 5:19-20 says, “Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Don’t miss those words “always” and “everything”.

I know it has been a hard year, but God has continued to bless us in so many ways! As followers of Christ, we have so much to be thankful for!

Will you take some time this week to reflect on all that God has done in 2020. Take some time to pull back the curtain and see how the Lord has been faithful! Praise Him for his steadfast love and grace! Thank him for His presence in our life and His leadership in these days! Give thanks for those he has put in your path and the salvation He has provided!

I am so thankful for the steps we took last Sunday to continue our commitment to love and minister to all ages in our community. In the days ahead, Susan Malone will be transitioning to a new position on our staff. She will become our Minister of Adults (55+) and Care Coordinator. We have also officially begun our search for a Part Time Children’s Minister. If you have any questions or recommendations, please feel free to contact me!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Financial Update

As we enter the final 6 weeks of 2020, we wanted to provide a quick update on our financial status as a church. First, we are so thankful for your continued faithfulness to being good stewards of all resources. Your generosity has allowed us to continue share Christ and make Him known in our community and around the world! Unfortunately, we are about $39,000 behind in our annual budget giving for 2020. We would love to close this gap through our end of the year giving and encourage you to continue to faithfully contribute to our general budget.

Second, we are thankful to report that our Payroll Protection Program Loan has been 100% forgiven by the Small Business Association. These means that we have no obligation to repay the funds we received through the CARES Act in April. We are thankful for this provision and the blessing it has been to our church.

Finally, we are in the process of preparing our 2021 Budget. This will be available on Sunday, Nov 29th.

Family Ministry News

The first of many Family Ministry meetings took place this past Sunday, and man, what an encouragement it was! Parents with children representing three generations gathered to discuss the difficulties and opportunities that exist for parents to disciple their kids. We also cast an exciting vision for 2021. There is a lot of good to come!

Are you a parent or guardian? Did you miss the meeting? Not getting our emails? New to First Hewitt? It's never too late to join in! Email [email protected] to get involved.
