Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by following Jesus, thriving in community, and healing the world. |

Friends,
In new member classes, I like to tell inquirers that we have three sacraments in the Methodist tradition: Baptism, Holy Communion, and Potluck (okay, that last one is unofficial!). This coming Sunday, May 18, we are having an all-church potluck lunch after worship to celebrate 143 years of First Church Roseville!
Can you imagine what life was like here, on the corner of Washington Boulevard and Church Street, in 1882? I wonder what the town felt like, how many people lived here, and what the early congregation looked like. And I can’t help but wonder—just how many potlucks have we had since then?
In a booklet for the church's 75th anniversary, there is a label that reads: "This Church is a growing church and offers its fellowship freely to the community in which it lives. To those who seek this fellowship we say 'Welcome!'"
While much has changed—both around town and within our congregation—I feel that describes our congregation today. We remain a place of welcoming fellowship. We are a community where people find nourishment, both spiritual and physical. We are a people, shaped by our faith, to serve with love and grace.mThis living legacy is worth celebrating!
See you later,
