Pastor's Note

Friends,

We had a full and wonderful weekend here at First Church! Our annual Trunk or Treat brought plenty of fun and fellowship. We took time in worship to remember and give thanks for the saints who have gone before us, and we gathered around the table for a potluck lunch to celebrate the conclusion of our stewardship campaign.

After a quick post-church nap, I made my way over to Trinity UMC in Colusa, where United Methodists from Arbuckle, Colusa, Maxwell, and Williams gathered for a combined church conference. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with colleagues and friends from the area, to hear more about the life of these congregations, and to celebrate the ways God is at work in and through them.

On the note of church conferences, I will be out this coming weekend as I preside over even more conferences, this time in the Lake County Circuit. I will be worshiping with our siblings at Upper Lake before joining the circuit-wide gathering in Lakeport.

While I will miss seeing you all, I am excited that Phoenix Rayne, our office administrator, will be our guest preacher on Sunday. Phoenix is a recent graduate from Brite Divinity School and is a licensed pastor at Incarnation Anglican Church. What a gift she will be in worship this week!

Pastor Angel

We want to offer big thank you to everyone who dressed up in their Halloween best and joined us for Trunk-or-Treat this year! While it might seem small, it is a wonderful witness to the community.

Conference Wide Prayer Virgil

On Tues. Nov. 3, the UMC California-Nevada Conference is inviting members to a prayer vigil for election night. It will be a time of silent reflections, guided meditations, and community prayers. Meeting will be from 8-10 p.m. via zoom. See link for more information.

Sock-It-To-Me: Keep Our Neighbors Warm & Dry

Help us keep our neighbors warm this winter! We’re collecting new socks, new or gently used coats, and blankets to share with neighbors experiencing homelessness. Your donations can make a meaningful difference for someone facing the cold and wet months ahead.

Please place your donations in the basket at the rear of the sanctuary. Thank you for helping us share warmth, comfort, and care with our community!

2026 Church Conference

Our annual Church Conference will be held at Loomis FUMC on Sunday, November 15 at 3:00 p.m. This will be a circuit-wide gathering with our District Superintendent Mike Harrell joining us. More details to come.
