Pursuit of Godliness Summer Series

Each night, at bedtime, my younger daughters beg to hear a story. I am not the greatest storyteller, so I generally turn that responsibility over to Daddy. Sometimes they will develop favorite stories that they want to hear night after night after night, and I find myself amazed at their ability to be captivated by the same thing on repeat!

You likely are familiar with Catherine Hankey’s famous hymn, “Tell Me the Old, Old Story.” In it, she describes a variety of reasons why we, even as adults, need to hear the story of Jesus’ love over and over again. Just like our children, there is something lovely and comforting about hearing the truth repeated to us.

I am not sure exactly how long ago it was decided that, during the summer months, our ladies would have the pleasure of hearing the story of God’s work in the lives of a few of our sisters, but it has certainly become one of my favorite traditions. These times are called “Pursuit of Godliness” and, not only have I learned things about the ladies who have shared that I never would have known otherwise, but it has done my soul good to hear of God’s faithfulness in their lives.

This year, we will have three opportunities to hear from our ladies. The first is at dinner this Tuesday, June 15, when we will hear from Alana Dietrich. Then, later in the summer, Emily Luther (July 21, Lunch) and Emily Metzger (August 17, Dinner) will share. I know that hearing about the Lord’s work in their lives will be an encouragement to you, your friends, and your neighbors, so I encourage you to make plans to attend whenever possible. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the program begins at 6:00 p.m. The link for information and registration can be found on the Women’s Ministry page of the website (firstprescolumbia.org/women), app, or by calling Lisa Cole at (803) 799-9062, Ext. 221. The cost is $8.00 per person, but the meal is free for college students.

I look forward to meeting with all of you ladies soon!

Treasured VBS Volunteers Needed

Treasured VBS 2021 is right around the corner, and we are taking off on an expedition to the rainforest to search for treasure! Come help our young explorers discover God’s Word in new ways and know that God is good through every season of life.

We are in need of adventure crew leaders who can guide five children throughout the VBS week. A crew leader will visit learning centers with their crew and enjoy music, movies, crafts, snacks, games, and Bible stories. We are also on a talent search for volunteers who would like to lead crafts, music, and games.

Treasured VBS begins on Monday, August 2, and ends on Friday, August 6. We meet daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please sign up today at the VBS table in the Atrium or by contacting Hannah Lampman (hlampman@firstprescolumbia.org) to be a part of this life-changing adventure!
Seniors Ministry Patriotic Gathering

Save the date for our Seniors Ministry Patriotic Gathering on Thursday, July 1, at 6:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. We will have a meal followed by a concert by the Mountain Bridge Band. More details to come.
