Grace Church Leith, Scotland Update

We remain amazed and grateful to the Lord at your response to the request to help Grace Church in Leith, Scotland, in their efforts to purchase a building. Your giving came to $244,000. Thank you for responding in such a generous and timely manner.

Here are highlights of what, in God’s providence, has happened and continues to happen:

  • Our gift made it possible for the Grace Church to make a serious bid on the property.
  • It came to light that another party made a greater offer. The seller is trying to close the deal with the other bidder but, as of yet, that deal has not gone through.
  • If the other sale were to fail, Grace Church intends on renewing their effort to purchase the building.
  • Through this whole process, the Grace Church leadership has decided that they are going to purchase a building for their use whether it is this one or another. Our gift to them is absolutely essential for the purchase of a property – whether the current one or something else that is located.

We have received the following communication from Athole Rennie, pastor of Grace Church:

"I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your incredible generosity towards our building fund. Again and again your willingness to pray for us, encourage us and support us financially over the years has acted as a tremendous example of gospel generosity to our church family, to the wider church in Scotland and to our non-Christian friends who wonder at the kindness and love that one community of God’s people can show to another. We are truly blessed to be in partnership with you... God has already used this experience to strengthen our faith, to increase our vision of what’s possible and to deepen our love for you our dear brothers and sisters at First Presbyterian Church. We look forward to seeing what else he plans to do in the weeks and months ahead."

Continue to pray for the successful conclusion of this process.

Senior Minister

Sharing Gifts with a Child in Need

Please help a child of an inmate parent this Christmas and stop by the Angel Tree table in the Atrium or in the Palmer entrance hallway on Sunday, November 10 and 17 . Take an Angel Tag, buy a gift or two for a child in need, and return your gift-wrapped presents by December 1 at either of the Angel Tree tables. The deacons will deliver your gifts to the children, along with an age-appropriate booklet of hope about Jesus, in time for Christmas!
