Ministry to Women

I think I’ve written before about my love of a fresh start, either that which comes with a new calendar year, or that of the beginning of the fall season and semester. I know we don’t all operate on a school year calendar, but fall also brings the beginning of Sunday Schools, Bible studies, the Foundry, and the WOC calendar year, among other things.

I am so excited that this fall there will be another new beginning in the Women’s Ministry Department, in the form of a new staff member, though she won’t be new to you! Marie Louise Bowers previously served on staff with our Youth Department from 2004 to 2009 and, in the years since, in addition to her roles as wife and mother, she has been an active volunteer in a number of ways such as chair of Circle 7 and, more recently, within the College Ministry. On August 15, Marie Louise will begin a brand new role on staff as Coordinator of Women’s Discipleship. The idea behind the creation of this new position was to provide additional support to the Women’s Ministry Department, specifically in the gathering and assimilation of younger women.

In this capacity, Marie Louise will also serve as a support to David Henderson and the Young Professionals’ Ministry. Marie Louise has special gifts in the areas of reaching out and engaging women, and I am excited to see how the Lord will use her to gather in young women and help them become more connected to this wonderful congregation. Please join me in praying for Marie Louise, Trevor, and their four sweet girls as she begins this new stage of ministry.

Emily Woodard
