Women’s Summer Events

As a change of season brings a change of routine, I’d like to use the occasion to let you know about some exciting opportunities for women happening at our church this summer. On Wednesday evenings during the months of June and July, we will be gathering to discuss Humble Roots, by Hannah Anderson. Emily Padgett writes this, “Join us for a low-key, discussion-oriented book club. We’ll explore ‘how pride manifests itself in anxiety and restlessness and how humility frees us from the cycle of stress, performance, and competition’ (pg. 12). We will spend time in small groups growing relationships with one another as we think through the many forms our pride can take, how we can give it up to Jesus, and how we can worship God more fully as we rest in our humanity.” Humble Roots is a thoughtful and Biblically-grounded book, and I know this will be a great study. Register on the app or website to join us!

We will also continue our summer testimony series, The Pursuit of Godliness, in which we hear from some of our own ladies the stories of the Lord’s faithfulness in their lives. These times together are great opportunities to catch up with Sunday School and Circle members, meet new friends, or invite neighbors. It is always encouraging to hear of the Lord’s work in the lives of his children. Our dates and speakers are: June 11 - Mrs. Janet B. Altman (12:00 p.m.), July 9 - Mrs. Callie Fluhrer (6:00 p.m.), and August 6 - Mrs. Michelle Bult (12:00 p.m.).

Paul encourages Timothy to “train [him]self for godliness. [for it] is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” I hope these summer events with their focus on the word of the Lord and fellowship with sisters in Christ will serve as opportunities for you to continue in your training, and I hope you’ll make plans to join us!

Summer Choir Registration is Happening Now!

Rehearsals begin on Sunday, June 2, at 4:45 p.m. in the Choir Room of the Palmer Ministry Building. The Choir, open to all ages, sings for Sunday evening services through June and July.
Absolutely no experience is needed! This is a fun and relaxed way to try your hand at singing in a choir, as well as a great way to meet some of our amazing music team members and volunteers!
