Sunday Evenings in Advent
December 5 
The Chancel Choir and Festival Orchestra present a concert of congregational carols and selections of choral masterworks. Musical settings by Julian Wachner, Dan Forrest, Ralph Vaughan Williams, George Frideric Handel, Barlow Bradford, and Philip Stopford.

December 12
The First Presbyterian Church Primary Choir, Junior Choir, Youth Chorus, and String Ensemble come together to celebrate the joy of Christ’s advent and birth. 

December 19
The Chamber Choir concludes the Sunday evening Advent services with moving choral settings by Shawn Kirchner and Kim André Arnesen.

Encouragers December Events

  • Thursday, December 2, at 4:00 p.m. - We will go caroling at the homes of some church members who live near the VA Hospital and, at 6:00 p.m., we will return to the church for our Christmas Celebration in Jackson Hall. You can sign up for both Caroling and Celebration or only one or the other. 
  • Saturday, December 4, at 9:00 a.m. – Instead of having breakfast in Jackson Hall, we will meet at Lizard’s Thicket on Elmwood Avenue.
  • Friday, December 10, at 5:30 p.m. – We will have “The Wonder of Christmas” celebration in the Family Life Center with Couples in Action. We will enjoy dinner, a musical program, and a homily by Dr. Thomas. Cost is $8.00 per person.

Gen2Gen Update

The principal balance of The Bridge loan is now $89,715. December 13 is the deadline for Gen2Gen giving opportunities. Until then, any contributions can be completed on the website (visit firstprescolumbia.org/give and choose the Gen2Gen – Capital Campaign fund), via the app, by mail, or in person. Please designate any gift by check as being for Gen2Gen.
Angel Tree

If you selected an Angel Tree tag, please remember to return wrapped and tagged gift items for your selected child to the Atrium table or The Bridge table by Sunday, December 5. Deacons will be delivering your gifts, along with an age-appropriate Bible, to the children in time for Christmas. (If you plan to drop off your Angel Tree gift items during the week, please return to the table near The Bridge guard desk. Thank you!)

Save The Date – Blood Drive

Women’s Christmas Coffee

All women are invited to the Women’s Christmas Coffee Tuesday, December 7, at 11:00 a.m. in Jackson Hall, hosted by the Women of the Church. Childcare for children ages birth through 5th grade is available by registration on the church website or app. 
World Missions Sunday School Class

The World Missions Sunday School Class invites you to join them this Sunday, November 28, to hear from this week’s featured missionary, Dr. Ed Gross. Dr. Gross will discuss his new book as well as what his work consists of, where, and with whom. Please come as he shares these updates.
The class is located in the Frank C. Hill World Missions Center in the Ministry Building, room 100, at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays.
