Downtown Barber ,
At Your Service
You may have already heard her playing fiddle at MarCellar’s Wednesday night music jams, witnessed her in wild west garb for photo shoots on Park Avenue, or caught her cracking jokes with the parking ticket officer while serenading sidewalk traffic with her banjo. Yes, Janese Hurley knows how to have some laughs. She is proud to join the downtown Idaho Falls workforce as Crystal Hair Lounge’s newest Barber, as of February 1st. Inspired by the dedication of thriving businesses downtown, she is committed to bringing the same excellence to her own work.

Born at the old Riverside Hospital right here in Idaho Falls, Janese is finding moving back to her hometown to be one of the best adventures yet. Surrounded by nostalgic places, friends old and new, Janese is excited move forward into the unknown of a well-known place. With so many talented chefs, artisans, boutiques, and a thriving live music and art community downtown, Janese is happy to bring quality hair cutting services to the neighborhood.

Janese graduated in April 2017 from the Barber Science program at the Aveda Institute in San Francisco. Janese was a working musician in San Francisco for 15 years as a multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, and recording artist. She has lived in Reno, North Carolina, and Tennessee, canned fish in Alaska, and toured the country with different bands. As you may have gathered, she’s a bit of a free-spirited rambler and what this all means is—yes, she’s had some very odd jobs!

These varied life experiences have amounted to a unique perspective and an appreciation for technical/trade schools, on-the-job training programs, non-traditional learning styles, and small local business. For Janese, barbering is the final, dreamy day job where she can enjoy combining manual labor with visually creative decision making. A fortuitous working relationship is forming between Janese and Crystal Hanson (owner of Crystal Hair Lounge) and they are excitedly in the beginning stages of establishing community outreach involving haircutting and personal image. Based on the principle that positive self-image is an equal right regardless of financial ability, Janese offers barber services at a suggested rate of $15.  She is currently asking for recommendations for community outreach haircutting; please contact her if you have any information for this in the Idaho Falls community .

Friday, Saturday, Sunday - Walk-ins welcome 10-6 - $15 Standard Haircut Rate
*All haircut types - men, women, and children. *Straight razor shave service coming soon! *If the barber is away from the shop, probably not far! Always free to call or text.  Willing to come in early mornings or stay late - just make arrangements! Email here or call (415) 290-9841
