Congratulations to Joel Wolf, who on May 13 received his MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas; to Kristen Shear on earning a Master of Arts in Emerging Media and Communications degree from UT/Dallas; to Scottie Johnson, this year's recipient of SMU's Jane Marshall Award for Outstanding Scholarship and Leadership in Christian Worship; and to Darcy Lewis, who has received a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Maryland. Darcy's proud parents are Karen and Steve Lewis.
Our best wishes go to Margaret and Stuart Owen and their family as they celebrate the wedding this Saturday of their daughter, Leslie, to Nikhil Prith Pole, in California.
We hold close many who are coping with health challenges: Karin Quiones, as her mother faces surgery; Gretchen Riehl, whose mother, Jean Kenner, has again been hospitalized; Pat Tharp, who is slowly regaining strength; Gwen Graves, who has had to undergo further surgery; Jennifer Stuart, whose mother, Jane Stuart, had a heart procedure on Wednesday; Jack Youngkin, whose mother has been ill, and Billy McDonald, recovering from a fall.
Our hearts go out to Kris and Mark Gillett and their family as they grieve for Kris' brother, Robert Bernat, 47, who died unexpectedly on May 12, of a heart attack.
We offer sympathy to Patty Smith, her children, Will and Misty, and family friend Judy Hembree on the death of John Smith, Patty's husband and the children's father, on May 14, after a period of illness. John was 69.
