Hello, Church,
I hope you have had a great week, I know I have. There was something magical about all the snow that fell on Sunday and getting to watch kids and adults alike playing out in their yards and building snowmen. I can’t help but think it was a small sign from our gracious God that 2021 will be full of joy-filled surprises for us all.
Because of your faithfulness and the generosity of all those who were in a position to give this last year, our church was able to carry out all of its work, maintain our incredible staff, and help countless numbers of people who fell on financially hard times.
I’m happy to report that the church was able to finish 2020 in a financially positive position, over 50 people were added to the membership of our church, and we dramatically increased our technological capacity for reaching beyond the walls of the church and even beyond the limits of our city and nation!
As I look back, I marvel at the way God has chosen to bless First Methodist in the midst of incredibly challenging circumstances. I am also reminded of the strength of this church on display in the deep faithfulness of each of our members. First Methodist is a church of people whose commitment to Jesus Christ and the community is unwavering.
I have one very exciting announcement to share with you. Dr. Sandy Richter is one of the world’s most sought after speakers and teachers. Many of you will have taken one of her classes in the Epic of Eden series. Dr. Richter was my Old Testament professor and I consider her a dear friend. I can say with all sincerity that my time in her classroom made the deepest and most profound impact on my faith.
Dr. Sandy Richter will be preaching at our main campus on February 14, 2021. We should all be incredibly honored to have such a world-renowned scholar and preacher come to share with us. I hope that you will put the date on your calendar and make it a priority to acquaint yourself with this special guest.
There are so many good things happening at First Methodist and among our people. I’m so grateful for each of you who take time to share how God is moving in your life and household with me. I know that these continue to be difficult days for city and nation. I hope you will join me in seeking the Lord’s best for us all and recommitting yourself to working hard for his kingdom and church in Waco.
Love,
Ryan

Have you always wanted to go on the Sager Brown UMCOR Depot Mission Trip with the church but something has happened and you could not participate over the past several years. Well, now you can participate without even leaving Waco or let alone your living room by being a member of our first-ever virtual mission team!!!
On Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 at 1:30 pm join our team as we participate in the first-ever virtual mission trip to Sager Brown UMCOR Depot located in Baldwin Louisiana. This interactive time will last about 1½ hours as you learn more about the Depot and all the incredible work that takes place there. This would be a great introduction to the Sager Brown Depot if you are thinking of being a part of the First Methodist Waco team in October/November 2021. In October this will be the third time a group from First Methodist Waco has traveled to Baldwin and spent seven days working in the Depot and community.
