STAFF PICKS FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF FALL
Patti's Pick

Forlorn Hope 'Queen of the Sierra' White Blend - $21.99

Forlorn Hope is known for championing lesser known varieties with the intention of showcasing the wealth of California's viticultural potential. "Queen of the Sierra" white blend is an excellent example. It is composed of Albariño, Picpoul and Verdelho grown in soils composed of limestone and schist at an elevation of 2000 feet. This blend has a fresh and nervy sort of style that is rounded out by textural richness. Pair with Seafood.
Doug's Pick

Ruet, Les Bois, Regnie Beaujolais 2017 - $20.99

This Regnie drinks a bit richer, and deeper than what is typically expected from this Cru in Beaujolais. Not saying that it's jammy but that it has a purity of fruity and deliciousness which is more on the riper darker berry side of the equation than the fresher, mineraly side. This a a great wine to sip while unpacking your flannel shirts from hibernation.
David's Pick

2017 Joseph Drouhin Bourgogne Pinot Noir 'LaForet' - $22.99

As one of the largest negociants in Burgundy, Drouhin has the ability to blend a perfect Bourgogne Rouge. This may seem un-Burgundian in concept but, in this case, the've created an attractive wine that fills a niche and serves as a solid introduction to the French style of Pinot Noir.
As they say on the bottle "...elegance and fruitiness in the Chalonnaise, depth from the Cote d' Or...", this wine combines fine tannin, zesty acidity and lovely ripe red fruits. The overall effect is fresh, elegant and accessible.
Patrick's Pick

Siduri Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, 2017 - $28.99

Now that we have passed Labor Day and entered September, my thoughts turn to lighter red wines for the cooling autumn months.
Founded in 1994 by Adam and Dianna Lee, Siduri has always been dedicated to producing cool climate Pinot Noirs. This vintage of their Willamette Valley, Oregon, Pinot Noir is no exception. Crafted from 7 clones from 7 different cool-climate vineyards it has beautiful balance of delicate tannins and crisp acidity, wrapped around inviting boysenberry and cherry fruit with hints of warm baking spices.
Always employing gravity flow production to retain delicate expressions of aroma and fruit, Siduri lets the fruit and place speak for itself.
Enjoy with a Columbia River Salmon dish!
Madison's Pick

Jean Paul Brun, La Rose d'Folie, Beaujolais - $19.99

I don't care what anyone says - rose is a year round drink. It tastes good. It pairs well with such a wide range of food. Its reminiscent of warmer, sunnier days in the depth of winter. Jean Paul Brun is a mainstay Beaujolais producer - he's long farmed organically, bucking the carbonic trend, staying true to his Burgundian philosophies. His rose is delicious. This is not the watery pale pink Provence style - this rose is fuller bodied with a bit more depth, rich fruit, totally dry, with a bright mineral backbone.
