Drucilla posted a status on Facebook this weekend and said- "Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that I would be attending a church service while sitting on my patio. I have just enjoyed a sermon from the First Methodist Church while enjoying a cool...morning breeze and the sound of birds singing. All is GREAT in God's world. I can't thank Connie enough for putting me on Facebook. I heard the sermon without any problem. I guess you really do not get too old to learn. When I was a little girl I thought no one could beat a radio -- they were magic. Here I sit ninety years later with a little tablet in my hand that can take me all over the world. SUMMER INTERN

Hello, Church! My name is Emily Autry, and I’m so excited to work with FSUMC this summer as an intern. I graduated in 2015 from Russellville High School. I went on to college at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR. Go Eagles! I graduated in May of 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Political Science. Following graduation, I moved to Fort Smith to regroup, work some odd jobs, and spend time with my family. It was during this past year that I became active at FSUMC. I volunteered with the youth. I was active in Wednesday Night Life. I served on the Share Team. I attended the college ministry small group. I took the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace class. All the while, FSUMC welcomed me in and loved me in ways that changed me. I began to no longer just identify as Christian and believe, but my heart was changed. I finally feel like I am laying down roots in my very own community of faith. Serving alongside this church is an honor that I don’t take lightly. I can’t wait to grow closer to those that I’ve met so far, and I can’t wait to meet more of you. Truly from the bottom of my heart, thank you for this opportunity! Another way that I am able to be here is through support from the United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas that created the Center for Calling & Christian Leadership (CCCL). The Center was created in summer of 2018 to support young United Methodists ages 12 and up in exploring calling and vocation related to church leadership and ordained ministry. This summer internship program is just one of the many programming and educational experiences that the Center supports for young people like me that have a calling to ministry. This summer you may see me in worship practicing and growing in my skill of public speaking, praying, or preaching. I might be interacting with children in the VBS @ home. I may even make phone calls for service projects that are going on in the church. There are many ways I will be active in serving this summer. Feel free to reach out!
