Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to school Huskies! We are excited to kick off the 2022/2023 school year with our families, staff, and students. Our teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare for this upcoming school year. We will work together as a school community to make this the best year yet!

Please take a moment to review some important information:

First day of school for ALL students

The first day of school will be on Monday, August 22nd. The Academic calendar as well as the bell schedule are attached for your review. Please note that doors open at 7:45am. Breakfast is served as 7:45am. first period classes begin at 8:10am and dismissal is at 3:04pm. 

School Uniforms

If you have not done so, HSA Southwest uniforms can be purchased online through school belles.

HSA Southwest student uniforms:

• K-8 Students must wear a navy or maroon polo shirt with the school logo
• 9-12 students must wear a red polo shirt with the school logo
• Students must wear navy or khaki pants or skirts
• Students must wear close-toed shoes; no sandals, flip flops, etc

Chromebook Policy

Please CLICK HERE to review and sign the chromebook policy agreement. Please go over the student pledge portion with your student. A parent/guardian and student must sign the document before receiving a chromebook.

In light of the COVID Pandemic, Horizon Science Academy will continue to do weekly testing for COVID. Students will be tested in their classrooms to avoid disruptions in learning. Horizon will continue to participate in the opt out testing, meaning you must fill out a form if you do NOT want your child to be tested. If you opted your child out in the previous school year, they will automatically be on the opt out list this 2022-23 school year as well. Please contact the office or school nurse to fill out the OPT OUT form if you do not want your child to be tested for COVID.

A la luz de la pandemia de COVID, Horizon Science Academy continuará realizando pruebas semanales para COVID. Los estudiantes serán evaluados en sus salones de clase para evitar interrupciones en el aprendizaje. Horizon continuará participando en las pruebas de exclusión voluntaria, lo que significa que debe completar un formulario si NO desea que su hijo sea evaluado. Si optó por excluir a su hijo en el año escolar anterior, también estará automáticamente en la lista de exclusión este año escolar 2022-23. Comuníquese con la enfermera de la oficina o de la escuela para completar el formulario de EXCLUSIÓN si no desea que su hijo se haga la prueba de COVID.
