Tell us more about your organization/company and your community work initiatives that lead you to support First3Years?
"The Miles Foundation is a private foundation in Fort Worth serving to honor the legacy of our founder, Ellison Miles, through investments in education. Decades of research led us to early education as a key focus area - it is a smart economic investment for our foundation and for our community. Quality early education provides a high return on investment by reducing negative outcomes like incarceration, educational remediation, and teen pregnancy, and by boosting positive outcomes like high school graduation, overall health, and a higher income in later years. First3Years' mission and exceptional leadership in the early education space made them a natural partner for us."
Can you share more information about your partnership with First3Years?
"The Miles Foundation has partnered with First3Years for the last 6 years to host early education forums for the Best Place for Kids! effort. We work together to bring diverse sectors to the table - including business, nonprofit, philanthropy, healthcare, civic leaders, higher education, and the City of Fort Worth - to discuss the importance of quality early learning for our economic future as a city and to discuss actionable strategies for building a brighter future for Fort Worth. Together with our partners, we are co-developing tangible ways for each sector to help ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed, every family has the resources they need to thrive, and businesses are supported with strategies that help local working parents AND our businesses' bottom line."
Does anyone in your life play a role in supporting your involvement? In providing inspiration?
"Our founder, Ellison Miles, believed in education as a vehicle to opportunity. Our vision is for every child to have a quality education, starting at birth, that sets them on a trajectory to live a healthy, hopeful, and productive life."
Do you have an anecdote about this organization that really moved you? Or is there anything else you would like to share?
"Sadie Funk, CEO of First3Years, has been a tried-and-true partner on the ground with us over the last 6 years. From collective impact strategy to execution, Sadie and her team have helped us build and sustain significant cross-sector community support and impact around early education in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, and statewide. We are proud of what we have been able to achieve together."
