Knots of Love
Hundreds of cumulative hours go into the scarves, hats, and blankets produced by the little-known Knots of Love knitting ministry.

Founded an unmarked number of years ago, Knots of Love started as an organization to make hats for First Baptist’s Christmas luncheon.

Every so often at First Baptist, a baby is dedicated in an act of community and trust among the congregation. During the dedications, the speaking minister that day will say words of encouragement and affirmation for the family while Susan Tatum – First Baptist’s Minister with Children and Families – presents the child with a hand-knitted blanket, swaddling them in Knots of Love’s handiwork.

E-Doers: Life on Mission
The E-Doers, a subset of Women on Mission (WOM), began about 15 years ago as a way to involve women – who didn’t want to or couldn’t come to meetings in person, but had access to email – in mission opportunities. Most of their projects involve food, so the women cook or bake on their own time, and bring the food into church on Sundays. No meetings necessary.

Opportunities  within First Baptist
Kids Hope Mentorship
Our Kids Hope Mentors will begin a new year of service in just a few short days with South Knox Elementary School. Volunteer Mentors meet with their “littles” for one hour once a week for a time of playing, talking, and schoolwork. These mentors are modeling servant leadership that often goes unnoticed. If you would like to get involved in this ministry there is still time. Whether you are a college student or in retirement, you are welcome! Contact Arthur Clayton ( aclayton@fbcknox.org or 865-246-4661) today to get involved in the life of a child.
Continuing Efforts in Hurricane Harvey Relief
There are families in Texas who are very grateful for the donations First Baptist has sent their way, but they still need help getting their lives back on track. Donations will be used to help repair homes in the Rockwood area, where churches are sending laborers to build with the resources we send. Any and all help is appreciated, and will be used to help families regain footing in their lives.

A Thank You to First Baptist
Dear First Baptist Family,
Thank you for your support for us as we volunteered in Puerto Rico.
The donation you sent was used for wood strips, screw gun, screws, etc. to put tarps on damaged roofs of houses; for food served to church volunteers and food cooked for families in the community; for gasoline in the van to travel; and for the churches in Santa Isabel and Guayama.
We are so very grateful for your many prayers and interest in following the work of Disaster Relief volunteers.
We are blessed to be on this journey with each of you.
    Appreciatively,
    Jim & Charlotte Damewood
