KV Chamber Business Expo update
The KV Chamber Business Expo on October 9 was a big success for FirstPark. We met businesses and individuals from around the region interested in information about central Maine’s most connected business park. In five hours, we had more than 300 visitors at our booth. The winner of our door prize, a Keurig coffee maker, was Waterville Area Humane Society member Jackie LaRochelle. Our booth was the debut of our new banners and displays designed by the Marshall Communications team in Augusta.
Interest in FirstPark growing

Prospects considering FirstPark to locate or expand their businesses have been very active this fall. Interest has been generated literally worldwide from networking, marketing and relationship building. FirstPark’s shovel-ready sites, location within a foreign trade zone, high-speed internet, DEP pre-permitting, pricing, easy access to Interstate 95 and proximity to suppliers have been contributors to the spike in interest.
Prime lots for sale
Interstate 95 frontage is for sale in FirstPark. Lots 19, 20, 21 and 22, totaling 23 buildable acres, are for sale or lease. The lots are immediately north of T-Mobile on FirstPark Drive. For more information, click here or contact Jim Dinkle at either (207) 859-9716 or exdirector@firstpark.com.
South Korea’s 2019 National Foundation Day event
FirstPark Executive Director Jim Dinkle and Nancy Marshall, CEO of Marshall Communications, were among guests of South Korean Consul General Yonghyon Kim at Boston University on October 1. The event was a reception in honor of South Korea’s 2019 National Foundation Day. Consulate staff, business executives, public officials, veterans and artists were among the guests for this interesting and informative evening. FirstPark looks forward to hosting Consul General Kim on a visit to central Maine soon.
Colby College regional economic impact report released
President David Greene released Colby College’s economic impact report on the region and Maine at a presentation on October 15. The report is a most interesting read and it validates Colby’s place as an economic engine within Maine. Colby teamed with FirstPark and provided financial assistance in 2005 for a spec building at 107 FirstPark Drive that is today owned by a Tampa-based REIT and home to MaineGeneral Orthopedics.
Speaking of local contractors
FirstPark is vigilant about working with vendors from within the region. DL Electric, Waterville, is our electrical contractor; Lynch Landscaping, Norridgewock/Skowhegan, mows and maintains the common areas in the park; Advance 1, Waterville, provides cleaning services; Marshall Communications, Augusta, is our marketing and public relations firm; SnowPond Technology Group, Oakland, is our IT provider; and One River CPAs, Oakland, is our bookkeeper and accounting firm. These are just a few of our local vendors. You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy local!
Looking ahead...
FirstPark marketing video coming soon!
We invite you to take a look at the rough cut of our marketing video. The video was produced pro bono by Oakland-based Mas Media. We will be editing testimonials from local business owners and other information into the video soon. Once it is completed, it will be uploaded onto our www.firstpark.com website.
Energy audit collaboration in the works
FirstPark is collaborating with the Town of Oakland, the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments and Siemens Engineering on an energy audit. The purpose is to see where we can economize our energy costs and to learn if we invest in new technologies what the payback would be. For example, we started two years ago replacing burned out streetlights in FirstPark with LED bulbs and we have seen a cost savings. At this point, we have probably replaced about 60 percent of the bulbs with LEDs. FirstPark’s electrical contractor is DL Electric, Waterville.
