Men's Health Back in Focus this Month
father_and_son_hug.jpg
Each June, to coincide with Father's Day, the Wellness Community focuses on Men's Health. It is interesting to note that men, on average, die almost five years earlier than women. This is partially attributed to men feeling more reluctant to go to the doctor. In fact, studies show that women go to the doctor twice as much as men! Additionally, certain conditions such as heart disease, respiratory disease and injuries/accidents, are more prevalent in men So, patients and their doctors should keep an eye on risks.
Thus, the purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among both men and boys.
The Wellness Program encourages all of our male faculty and staff to go ahead and make that annual appointment. If you love a guy, encourage him to schedule one too!
