Heli Fishing

Week 13

In the thirteenth week of the Helifishing Program we were honored with the visit of a diverse group from the U.S., Australia, U.K., and Brazil. We had a hot week with some rain in the middle that brought relief to the fishermen and the fish, making them more active.

With some of this group, who were in very good physical condition with the ability to swim, climb stones, and walk, we were able to explore new places with incredible results, both in fishing and in the possibility of stepping on beautiful, intact places.

 Secure

Week 19

This week for the nineteenth chapter for Sécure Lodge we welcomed a team of eight fishermen hosted by Vance Freed from WorldCast Anglers, most of them repeat guests who shared a fishing week with us two seasons ago.

The weather conditions were consistently warm in both the water and the air, with a little rain in the middle of the week which didn’t change water levels. Working and walking everywhere, we fished all the beats, including both creeks, the headwaters far up above the out camp, and the lower section where the river allows us to play a different kind of game.

Fishing a lot with top water flies as Titanic sliders, GDGs, mice imitations, and lizards, all the guests rose dorado and yatorana. Classic streamers did a great job as well, including even on some pacú which took some small baitfish imitations in the deep pools located in the upper section.

The biggest fish of the week was an 18-pound dorado.

 Pluma

Week 19

On the nineteenth week of the season at Pluma Lodge we hosted eight anglers from the United States.

As in the previous week, we started with hot weather and low water conditions, perfect for sight cast fishing even in the Sécure River (where the water normally is muddier than in the Pluma). These conditions also make pacú fishing on dries and berry patterns very good.

At the middle of the week the temperature dropped and fish got more active in shallow water, showing up in big feeding frenzies as they were not doing during the hot starting of the week.

Agua Negra

Week 19

Even with low water conditions and very little rain, the main river and the tributaries continue to give us some great opportunities as well as some very difficult ones due to the low levels and the need to make longer and more precise casts.

Last week we had four friends from the U.S. visit, and even with difficult conditions we made two camps on the Agua Negra River and managed to catch very good dorado and pacú.

The main Sécure River gave us the two biggest dorado of the week and we unexpectedly caught a huge moturo weighing over 120 pounds, producing an epic fight and an unforgettable memory for Scott.
