Week 4
21-28 June 2024
This week Sécure Lodge hosted a group of five anglers from different parts of the world: Singapore, the Netherlands, and the USA were part of our week number four.
We began with cooler and higher water due to the rains of the last week. We fished the upper sections as the water conditions improved more quickly there—the dorado started moving near the shores, pushing us to fish shallow waters with floating lines. By midweek with temperatures more regular, fishing activity turned on and we found a good amount of fish in the main river as well as the tributaries.
With clear water conditions, both creeks and the camp were very active throughout the week, giving the anglers many opportunities with good sized dorado and pacú.
Maniquicito Creek gave us the biggest fish of the week, as we landed two 20-pounders in skinny riffles.
The lower section also started fishing well as a medium-sized migratory fish run moved up.
At the end of the week with the air temperature dropping due to a small cold front, the dorado kept moving around and even chasing sabalo in shallow waters, where we hooked up some big fish that won the battle this time.
