Patients are often faced with complications including long hospital stays, wound infection, osteomyelitis and limb loss due to challenges associated with healing full-thickness wounds. Dr. Rimi Statkus will review a collection of multiple case reports on select patients with significant co-morbidities and complex wounds who were at high risk for proximal amputation of the affected limbs. Nurses will receive 1.0 CE for attending this presentation.

Trauma Surgeon, Aimee Sundeen, MD, performs temporary abdominal closure (TAC) for complex trauma patients. TAC allows the abdomen to be kept open to manage complications of soft tissue trauma, sepsis, and as well as abdominal compartment syndrome. Dr. Sundeen discusses her experiences and clinical outcomes for these patients. Nurses will receive 1.0 CE for attending this presentation.

Keri Mullins, RN, BSN, will share the treatment plans that were implemented for patients with highly complex wounds that were transferred to an LTACH Facility from Acute Critical Care environments. Positive clinical outcomes were achieved in a sixteen patient case series. Nurses will receive 1.0 CE for attending this presentation.

Candance will share specific cases she treats within a Level 2 Trauma Facility, such as: shotgun blast, BKA, left femoral-popliteal bypass and thrombectomy/fasciotomy where wound closure was achieved with minimal complications. Nurses will receive 1.0 CE for attending this presentation.
