NBCC Fitness News

The New Brighton Communtity Center is happy to update you on all of the great things happening in the fitness area. 

During our annual maintenance building closure (Sept. 3-7), the machines will get a good cleaning, as well as the carpet. Partitions will be installed in the men's shower area. And you'll notice a shiney aggregate floor as you walk to the Guest Service Desk.

There are some great new group fitness classes starting this fall, so take a look at those offerings.

Finally, our fall recreation brochure is now out and provides a number of opportunties to stay strong and healthy in the coming months - so check it out!

New Fit Lab

It will change the way you think, eat and move. Functional Interval Training Includes:

  • 5 minute warm up with calisthenics and light stretches to get the blood flowing and loosen up the joints.
  • Enter a strength training zone for 10-15 minutes, using machines and free weights to build strength and tone muscle; this will take place either in the fitness studio or in the  fitness center, depending on the day's activities.
  • Next up is the cardio zone for 10-15 minutes of intense training, using circuits on fitness center cardio equipment, for heart rate training challenges, body's efficiency, and burn that stubborn fat!
  • Afterwards, we will return to the studio for 5-10 minutes of ab-blasting core workouts, to tone up the midsection and build balance.
  • Finally, the cool-down and stretching portion of the class is accompanied by the weekly education segment.
  • Weekly education includes nutrition coaching and advice, and handouts with that week's "challenges" toward specific diet and activity goals to accomplish before the next session.

TRX Training - NEW!

TRX Suspension Training is a military-designed full TRX diagrambody exercise system using one's own body weight and the force of gravity to develop strength, balance, flexibility and endurance all at the same time, now in a group setting.

Gear Up for Fitness Open House

Mark your calendars for the fall "Gear UP" for fitness open house! Invite a friend to try the fitness center for free, Wedensday, October 10 from 6:00 am-10:00 pm. New members receive a $25 discount on their new membership and 50% off any orientation services.
