OC San Approves $487 Million Budget
Protecting public health and the environment by collecting, treating, and recycling wastewater generated by 2.6 million people is an impressive mission and takes money, staff, and infrastructure. With nearly 400 miles of pipes, 15 pump stations, and two treatment plants worth $12.4 billion that need to be operated and maintained to ensure service 365 days a year, a well-balanced budget will do just that.

The Board of Directors approved OC San’s $487 million budget which lays out the framework of activities from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. It includes the operational, capital and debt service expenditures necessary to cost-effectively support OC San’s mission and execute the two-year Strategic Plan. It also allows us to make the necessary infrastructure improvements to ensure regulatory compliance and uphold our commitment to our customers.

The budget includes five new positions for a total of 653, and a reduction of $38 million from what was approved last year for the second year of the adopted two-year budget. These changes are reflective of a $43 million decrease in the Capital Improvement Program due to project estimates and scheduling and a $5 million increase in the Operating budget.

OC San's budget continues to reflect the agency’s efforts to streamline operations, maintain our levels of service and ensure our infrastructure is sound. To learn more or view the budget visit our website.
