A New Way to Share Your Voice in Groveland

Big news, Groveland!

We’re launching a new way for you to share your feedback and help shape the future of our city.

We’ve partnered with FlashVote, a third-party research firm, to offer short community surveys several times a year. Each survey includes just five quick questions, takes only a minute or two, and can be answered on any device. Even better: results will be posted publicly within 48 hours, so you can quickly see what our community is thinking.

Participation is completely anonymous, so you can respond honestly and comfortably. Surveys will be available in English and Spanish. Once enough residents have registered, the first survey will go out to learn what you believe Groveland’s top priorities should be.

This program has the potential to help us make better, more informed decisions as we plan future projects and services. I hope you’ll sign up and encourage your friends, families and neighbors to do the same.

Groveland Hosts FFA Alumni Cattle Show

Groveland was proud to host the 2026 South Lake FFA Alumni Cattle Show, welcoming students, families and agricultural leaders from across the region for a weekend celebrating youth achievement and agricultural education.

The show gives FFA (Future Farmers of America) students the chance to showcase their livestock projects and build skills that support future careers in agriculture. It was inspiring to see their hard work on display!

Strengthening City Operations

As Groveland continues to grow, the work of the city staff has to grow with it, not just in workload, but in how we’re structured to serve residents efficiently and consistently.

Recently, City Manager Mike Hein implemented an internal reorganization designed to improve coordination across departments, reduce delays and strengthen the systems that support day-to-day city services. This includes addressing some areas where we know we must do better, such as improving customer service and ensuring important responsibilities — like the timely filing of financial audits — stay on track.

At the end of the day, this reorganization is about service: clearer accountability, smarter workflows and a stronger foundation for the future. It’s a meaningful step toward building the kind of city organization Groveland needs now and for the years ahead.

We’ll keep residents updated as these improvements take shape over the coming months.

One of the most important changes in the new reorganization is the addition of a new leadership role focused on internal operations. The city is welcoming Michelle Michnoff as Groveland’s first Chief Operating Officer.

With more than 20 years of executive experience, she will oversee internal service departments like Finance, Budget, Utility Billing, Procurement, Human Resources and IT, strengthening the behind-the-scenes work that helps city services run smoothly and residents get the responsiveness they deserve.

New Pediatric Care Coming to Groveland

I’m excited to share some wonderful news for Groveland families: Magical Moments Pediatrics is planning to open in summer 2026 and will offer well-child visits, sick visits, school and sports physicals, immunizations and behavioral management, all close to home.

The new office will be located at 267 East Cherry Street, across from Gray Middle School, and will be led by Shana Haywood, a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with more than 24 years of pediatric experience. Shana and her family have lived in Florida for the past 10 years, and she shared that after visiting Groveland, she knew this was the community where she wanted to open her practice.

This announcement is especially important because many of us currently travel outside the city for healthcare. Welcome to the community, Shana!

Spreading Holiday Cheer

One of the most heartwarming traditions in Groveland is our annual Toy Drive, and this year was another incredible reminder of what a caring community we are.

Led by Groveland Police Sergeant Landis Delp (far right with Santa and volunteer elf), the Toy Drive is truly a year-round effort. Sgt. Delp collects toys throughout the year and works alongside partners and volunteers to make sure families have support when the holiday season arrives.

Thanks to that dedication and the generosity of our community, this year 320 families and a total of 1,147 children received toys. Thank you Groveland!
