BORO STRONG - GO PANTHERS!
Announcements for Parents
Springboro Elementary Schools will be implementing a new program to students in grades two through five called Child Safety Matters (CSM) from the Monique Burr Foundation beginning January of 2023. The goal of this program is to help keep your child safe. CSM empowers children to recognize and respond to bullying, cyberbullying, child abuse, and digital dangers.

The counselors at Dennis Elementary School (Liz Wenzel and Macy Johnson) and Five Points Elementary School (Amy Stumpfl and Emily Nelson) will be presenting the CSM curriculum to the students. Four lessons will be presented by the counselors beginning in January of 2023. The concepts are introduced and practiced using child-friendly language with age-appropriate activities and games. Posters, like the one that appears on the student participation letter, will be hung in all classrooms and a banner in each school. On November 28, students received this student participation letter to share with their parent/guardian. Please review the letter. This was due back, signed, by Wednesday, December 14.

If you would like more information on Child Safety Matters, please review the links below, or reach out to your counselor team as noted on the student participation letter.

Full-Time Opportunities Available Now!

Transportation/Bus Drivers Update

As many in the community may be aware, our district is continuing to experience a shortage in the number of available bus drivers. This shortage is not only affecting Springboro Schools, but numerous other districts around the county, state, and tri-state area. Simply put, staff turnover for bus drivers is affecting this situation and there are not enough candidates applying to fill the necessary bus driver positions.

Transparency is important. In an effort to communicate with you about our lack of available bus drivers at this time, our hope is to both inform you about the district’s need for additional bus drivers, as well as to make you aware of potential route changes or cancellations in the near future, due to this shortage.

If bus driving positions are not able to be filled, the reality of having to combine routes, or even cancel routes for a period of time, could come to fruition throughout this school year. If a route change or cancellation were to occur, you would be notified directly. However, this could occur on short notice, potentially as late as the day before. Our district will make every effort possible to avoid this situation and provide as much lead time as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time.

School Lunch
Under the National School Lunch Program, lunches served to all students were at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year. The federal government determined the USDA pandemic school lunch waivers, which allowed free meals to all students, to expire June 30, 2022.

Families who believe they qualify for the Free-Reduced Lunch program will need to submit a new application for approval. If you are currently approved for the Free-Reduced Lunch Program, you would have thirty (30) school days to submit a new application. Applications can be found under the “Parents” tab on www.springboro.org.

Lunch prices for 2022-23
Grades 1 - 6  $2.55
Reduced lunches all grades $0.40

PLEASE NOTE: We are no longer offering cheese sandwich meals to students that do not have lunch funds. Students are permitted to charge their lunch in grades 1 - 8. They are not permitted to charge any snack items.

A balanced lunch is offered every day of school. Students may also purchase only milk if they bring lunch from home. In order to purchase additional a la carte items (i.e. chips, ice cream, etc.), students will need to have sufficient funds on their account. Please check your child's lunch account to verify that your child has a balance to purchase these extra items.

Lunch payments may be made on-line through PaySchools Central. Cash or check (payable Five Points Elementary) is also accepted. Free and reduced lunch applications are also available online.

It is always best to send in a note for the change when advance notice can be given. You may also email our receptionist, Patty Wolpert. Having the communication in advance, helps us to ensure we are able to dismiss our bus fleet in a timely manner.

If you send an email to your child's classroom teacher of a schedule change, please include Mrs. Wolpert ([email protected]) on the email as teachers may not have an opportunity to check their email in the late afternoon, prior to dismissal time.

Daycare Communication ... IMPORTANT
If there is a change in transportation, or your child goes home prior to dismissal, please notify your daycare provider of the change. This notification is extremely important as it will allow for our bus dismissal to happen in a timely manner.
