Additional Five Points Information
Absence Notice
Just a friendly reminder, when your child is absent, please be sure to call the office to inform us of the absence. It would be best to notify the office versus the classroom teacher. There have been times this year, the notice has not been shared with the office in a timely manner and you have received notification. To ensure we are notified, calling the office is best at 937-748-6090. You could also send an email to Mrs. Wolpert. Thank you for your attention to this request.
|
|
Vacation Notice
Please be sure to submit any upcoming vacation requests to Mr. Lotspaih, Assistant Principal at tlotspaih@springboro.org for approval prior to taking your vacation. These days shall be included in the twelve (12) "parent note" absences students are allowed per school year. You can check-out our Attendance Policy on our district website.

|
School Fees
If you have not yet paid your child's school fees, their report card was held in the office and will not be mailed home at the end of the 4th quarter. School fees may be paid on-line through PaySchools Central, or they may be paid by check. The check can be sent in with your child, and it should be made payable to Five Points Elementary. In the memo section of your check, you should write your child's name and note 'school fees'. School fees for the 2021-22 school year are $87.
If you are unable to pay the entire balance at this time, we would be happy to assist you with designing a payment plan. Please contact Mrs. Riegle, in the front office, to set up a payment plan.

SCHOOL LUNCH
A balanced lunch is offered every day of school. Students may also purchase only milk if they bring lunch from home. Like last year, lunch during the 2021-22 school year will be free to all students. Although school lunch this year is free due to federal funding, students still need to have money on their account for a la carte items, such as chips and ice cream. Please check your child's lunch account to verify that your child has a balance to purchase these extra items. Lunch payments may be made on-line through PaySchools Central. Cash or check (payable to Five Points Elementary) is also accepted. Free and reduced lunch applications are also available online.

Daily Attendance
Please contact Patty Wolpert by email or phone (call 937-748-6090) by 9:00 a.m. if your child will be absent.
Change in PM Dismissal Communication
If you need to notify the school that your child(ren) will need to change the way he/she typically goes home from school, please contact the office 937-748-6090 as soon as possible. It is always best to send in a note for the change when advance notice can be given. You may also email our receptionist, Patty Wolpert. Having the communication in advance helps us to ensure we are able to dismiss our bus fleet in a timely manner.
If you send an email to your child's classroom teacher regarding a schedule change, please include Mrs. Wolpert (pwolpert@springboro.org) on the email, as teachers may not have an opportunity to check their email in the late afternoon, prior to dismissal time.
Daycare Communication
If there is a change in transportation, or your child goes home prior to dismissal, please notify your daycare provider of the change. This notification is extremely important as it will allow for our bus dismissal to happen in a timely manner.

Counselor Connection
This school year our Five Points counselors, Mrs. Stumpfl and Mrs. Nelson, will be teaching the MindUP Program and the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Components using the Pathway 2 Success Program. Counselors will implement the lessons at least once a month during the library special.
The five components of Social Emotional Learning are the following:
Self Awareness
Self Management
Social Awareness
Relationship Skills
Decision Making Skills
May Focus:
Perseverance & Goal Setting
Perseverance is having persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. We know that the end of the school year can be stressful for students, so as we move closer to the end of the year, we will be discussing the importance of persevering through difficult times, and having the determination to finish the year strong.
During the month of May, we will also be working with students on goal setting. Working toward personal and academic goals aligns with the core SEL competency of self-management relating to:
- Impulse control.
- Stress management.
- Self-discipline.
- Self-motivation.
- Organizational skills.
While goal-setting doesn't necessarily come naturally, a child's intrinsic desire to achieve sets them up for success when they're given the proper tools and strategies.
Here are just a few skills we will be learning about:
Understanding social expectations
Using good social skills
Showing manners
Understanding social cues
Understanding and showing respect
Learning to perspective-take
Have empathy for others
Being kind and caring
Celebrating Diversity in others
