APRIL 2022
Nationally recognized as a top downtown, Birmingham is a welcoming destination for a weekend escape, day trip, date night or family outing. Here are the can't-miss experiences to add to your itinerary this month.
1. TAKE A SCULPTURE TOUR
Did you know downtown Birmingham is home to many public art sculptures? Download the Downtown Sculpture Tour & Brochure Map and see them up close! It's a fun way to get some exercise and enjoy Birmingham's natural and artistic beauty. Park in any of our convenient municipal parking structures (where the first two hours are always free), grab a beverage from one of our cafes and start your self-guided tour from the heart of downtown!

2. DINE OUTSIDE
Nothing is better than a warm spring day after a long cold-weather spell! Take advantage of the sunshine and hit the patio at one of our many restaurants, where new spring cocktails and menus are also making their debut. Visit our dining directory for a full list of restaurants downtown. We recommend contacting your favorite restaurants directly for outdoor dining options and reservations.

3. AWARD-WINNING BURGER
Downtown Birmingham has been home to Hunter House Hamburgers for 70 years. This award-winning, family-owned joint has been serving up the area's favorite slider-style burgers since 1952! The grill is well-seasoned, the menu is simple and the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. Starting now, car-loving locals like to sit at one of their Woodward Avenue-facing tables to catch a glimpse of early cruisers out and about.

4. FISH AT QUARTON LAKE
Bring your pole and cast off from the small fishing pier at this quaint, Rouge River-fed neighborhood lake. Please abide by Michigan State Fishing Regulations and be sure to clean up your tackle while enjoying the lake. Information on Quarton Lake can be found here.

5. TULIPS AT THE PARK
The tulips in bloom at Barnum Park late-spring is truly a sight to see! The park, just south of downtown, is home to a wonderful playscape, large sandbox and adjacent picnic area for families to enjoy. With everything in close proximity, its easy to keep an eye on the kids at this lovely park.
