Dear friends,
I imagine that, like me, you’ve wondered at times about the impact of smartphones and nearly ubiquitous screens on our lives. Depending on who you read and trust, our reliance on them has shortened our attention spans, made sustained reading more difficult, and, perhaps most concerning, made it harder to be fully present to one another.
I think there is some truth to this (although it sometimes sounds an awful lot like what everyone was saying about TV when I was a kid, and, well, we're still here). But as I look at the coming weeks here at St. Andrew's, it strikes me that we offer something different. So many opportunities to gather in community: for worship and singing, for fellowship and play, for learning and storytelling. So many different voices to listen to; so many ways, together, to listen for God's voice.
I hope you'll read about these upcoming events and join us as you are able as we continue to walk through the Easter season. May we all have experiences of new life as we celebrate the risen Christ.

One Faith, Many Voices

Christianity in the United States is both remarkably diverse and increasingly divided. From theology and worship styles to politics and cultural engagement, Christians today often find themselves experiencing the faith in very different, and sometimes conflicting, ways.
Join Fr. Paul for a three-week series as we explore the complexity of contemporary Christianity in America. Together, we will look at how we got here, what is shaping the current landscape, and how we might faithfully navigate these differences as followers of Jesus.

Come, Holy Spirit! On Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit poured out upon the Church, filling the disciples with courage, crossing every boundary of language and culture, and breathing new life into God’s people.
On Pentecost Sunday, May 24, we hope you'll wear red as a sign of the Spirit's fire and presence. We're also looking for volunteers to read a portion of the Pentecost story in a language other than English, whether it's your first language or one you've learned along the way. If you would be willing to participate, please let Fr. Paul know.
Pentecost reminds us that the Church is not bound by one voice or one way, but is alive with the many voices of God’s people, united in the Spirit.
