It's been a coooold winter, so I am looking forward to my favorite time of year, March and April. My garden is starting to bloom, the wildflowers are popping up, and the oaks have bright green baby leaves. This year may be different. The cold has wiped everything out that I've spend 5 years tending to. What is alive? Hard to tell right now. I may have to replant everything or Mother Nature may totally surprise me.
One thing about having the classic car hobby is I can be in control. I can fix the car when it breaks, I can choose where to drive, and listen to whatever music (or none) I choose. I enjoy having a choice.
Speaking of choices, in the last several years the registration fees have dramatically increased. I understand that trophies, insurance, entertainment, and advertising have all increased, but where is the ceiling? At what point are attendeess going to stop going? Given the expense of food, gas (hi octane for most), and registration, it is easy to drop $100+ for a car show afternoon.
Luckily for us, we live in the United States where freedom rings. There are plenty of shows and cruise that are free and open for everyone to attend. If you prefer to attend a paid show, that is absolutely fine too. And for those of you on Facebook who see it necessary to announce that you "do not pay to show your car", please be nice and keep your statements to yourself. Everyone has a choice, so be respectul.
Happy cruising to all during this beautiful time of year.
