Hoisting the Flag

There was a fun question the other day circulating on social media. Which NFL players should make up Team USA after the International Olympic Committee (IOCC) officially added flag football to the 2028 Los Angeles Games? 

Naturally, Tyreek Hill was the most popular name, along with stars like Lamar Jackson, Justin Jefferson, and Space Gardner. 

Flag football has grabbed attention after the NFL switched up its Pro Bowl format last year, and the best Super Bowl commercial featured Pop Warner Trailblazer Award winner and Team Mexico flag star Diana Flores.

We love it. We have long promoted flag football as one of our offerings for kids who want to play this great sport but may not be ready or interested in tackle. [Read more..]

Thanking Our Veterans

In commemoration of Veterans Day, Pop Warner proudly recognizes the exceptional dedication of its young participants in paying tribute to the brave servicemen and women who have selflessly served our nation. Among these remarkable individuals, is five-year-old Sadie Pulver, Mini Miss Military Star New York on the Colonie Tiny Mites cheerleading team, who dedicates her time to welcoming military members home from service and most recently joined hands with the "Stars for our Troops" organization, to create stars from retired flags, paired with heartfelt poems, as gifts to veterans. 

Sadie's unwavering commitment to the military community serves as a shining testament to the core values that Pop Warner instills in its young participants – values of respect, compassion and selflessness. This Veterans Day, we stand in celebration of Sadie and all young individuals like her who embody the spirit of service and gratitude, reaffirming that heroes come in all ages. Above all, we express our deep appreciation and honor for all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches who have made it to the Regional Championships of 2023! Another season of hard work, long hours and many full run throughs have gotten you to this point – yay to you! To the parents of these amazing athletes – kudos on a job well done. Much of this cheer life would not be possible without the love and support you give to your children. Seeing them sparkle on that performance floor lets you know it was all worth it.
