LEADERSHIP LETTER: Wayne Granger, Executive Director

Happy Friday Dragon Families!

This week, the school was buzzing with excitement for many wonderful things at school. We just finished our first full week and students are already enjoying a number of our opportunities for this year.

  • Furniture: We're getting great feedback from students on our new furniture. Kids can sit at different levels, or even stand up at their desks and teachers are able to arrange their rooms to best fit the shape of their room and their individual needs.
  • Smart Lab: The new Elementary Smart Lab has been a huge hit! If you didn't get to stop in and see this amazing new engineering, technology, and computer science space, we'll be hosting a couple open houses in the near future. There are nothing but smiles coming out of this new learning space!
  • Middle School Athletics: Girls volleyball is already underway with games in just two weeks. This year, we also started a Cross Country club withan amazing turnout of over twenty runners. Thank you to Flagstaff Academy parent Jim Hallberg for spearheading this new opportunity for our students to stay active!
  • October Count News: Families with siblings in other SVVSD schools may have received a message this week that SVVSD is canceling their October 3rd Late Start day for a regular full day of school. This is in response to the Colorado Department of Education designating October 3rd, the official date for student counts that set our funding for the year. It's critically important that every student is at school on October 3rd, as those counts determine the funding Flagstaff Academy receives this school year to pay for our operating expenses and staff salaries. We're currently evaluating if we'll follow suit with SVVSD and will provide information to families in the coming weeks.
We still have openings in Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. If you know of any co-workers moving into the area, family or friends looking for a great alternative to the neighborhood schools, please send them our way. We're always looking for more Dragons!

Have a great weekend!

Wayne Granger,
Executive Director
