Dear Parents,

On Monday, March 3rd, you will be receiving an email from the Dr. Josh Packard and the Social Research Lab regarding our annual Parent Survey. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey so we can hear what you really like about Flagstaff Academy and don't want to change, as well as those areas where we can improve.

Last year, we had over 450 responses (which was up significantly from the year before), but I know we do even better!  So keep an eye out for the survey in your  Monday emails!

Also, we have been giving you information since January regarding the District Encore Awards, but I wanted to take a moment to encourage you to nominate an outstanding teacher for this award. Nominations are due by Wednesday, March 15th. It is so gratifying for our teachers when they are nominated (and of course even better when they win!). It shows a deep appreciation for their commitment to the children of our school and the countless hours they dedicate to their craft. It's time for our annual Staff Basketball Game - who will you be rooting for? Elementary or Middle School, or both??

Cost: Game Entry - $1

StuCo will be at the game selling water and candy for $1 a piece. Plus, we'll have our Free Throw Contest for a dollar a throw and our PTO will be selling Spirit Wear.
All proceeds go to support our May graduations!

Remember -- It doesn't matter who scores the most baskets because we're all Dragons!

The Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley 2017 Encore Awards

The Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley has scheduled the 10th Annual Tribute to Teachers for Friday, May 5. We encourage our entire Flagstaff Academy community to nominate our excellent educators for this prestigious award! 

About the Encore Awards
This awards program, sponsored by the Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley, provides the opportunity for students, parents, community members and business partners to recognize and honor individual teachers at the Pre-K-12 levels in the St. Vrain Valley School District who exemplify excellence in teaching. By paying tribute to the achievements of teachers who have an extraordinary impact on the achievements of students, the Foundation and the community hopes to pay tribute to the accomplishments of all teachers.

Award Winners
One teacher from each St. Vrain Valley School will receive Encore recognition. At least two other teachers from each school will be honored as finalists. The Encore Awards are presented annually at the Tribute to Teachers celebration.

Nominations are due no later than Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Nomination forms can on the Education Foundation website, or at the front office. 
It's Time for Spring Track and Field!

2017 Track and Field Sign-Up Information: Track registrations are open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. 

Registration Week:
Monday, March 6-Thursday, March 9

Please complete a registration form that includes jersey top size with a check to Flagstaff Academy for $55.00. Registration forms can be found here, on the Dragon's Athletic website or can be picked up from Mrs. Salgado.  There is no practice/meetings during Spring Break, March 27-31. You can also find the most current season schedule on the Dragon Athletic Website.

The season is six weeks long and practice will begin on Tuesday, March 14th. 
2016-2017 Yearbook orders are in full swing! Orders can be placed online through mymjthomas.com using the access code fsayb201617. You can also order with order forms, which are available at the front office. Please place only ONE ORDER PER ENVELOPE or one or more orders ONLINE. Middle School yearbook orders should include the student's advisory teacher name. Yearbook orders need to be received by Monday, April 24th.
2016-2017 Activity Fees are Still Being Accepted!

Yes, your Annual Activity Fees were due on October 1st, but if you haven't paid them yet, we will continue to accept payments! Annual Activity Fees go toward purchasing essential items such as:
  • Student workbooks
  • Consumable classroom supplies
  • Software licensing for technology programs
  • Buses and tickets for field trips
  • Elementary specials program materials
  • Middle School electives
  • Special educational guests
  • Community school supplies
  • (copy paper, tissues, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, etc.)

Or pay with cash or check, payable to "Flagstaff Academy." Partial Payments also accepted. 
Families eligible for Reduced/Free Lunch are eligible for reduced or free student activity fees.

Student Activity Fees payments are non-refundable.

Late parents will be charged $1.00 per minute/per student that they are late. After 15 minutes, they will be signed into Dragon Flight, and required to pay the annual registration fee and $20 drop-in fee. Please consider volunteering to help the after school runs! 

We are looking for individuals and companies to help sponsor the 100-Mile Club! What will the funds go towards? 
      • Lanyards and QR codes for students
      • The annual cost of the scanning program each year
      • Additional scanners
      • Staff to help make the 100-Mile Club continue to be a safe place for kids
      • Scholarships for students in need

The PTO's Hospitality Committee needs your help! Parent/Teacher Conferences are next week and we need your help providing a dinner for our amazing teachers. What is the Festival of Cultures?
This yearly event is a celebration of world cultures and especially those represented at Flagstaff Academy.

Stop by before or after the staff basketball game at Culvers on  Friday, March 3 between  4:00-6:00 p.m. and  7:30-9:00 p.m.! 20% of ALL SALES during those times (eat in, drive through, and take out) go to benefit our school! No flyer needed.

Cheers to Flagstaff is a special evening that combines fundraising for the school with community-building fun into one event. Socialize with Flagstaff's fabulous teachers and staff and connect with fellow parents in a festive, relaxed setting...all while raising funds for our children's education.

  • Please remember to put the student's name, grade and TEACHER in with all Box Tops in a sealable bag/envelope. Box Tops with no teacher name will be included in the general Box Top fund.
  • Please continue to trim the Box Tops prior to submitting them.
  • Please only include NON EXPIRED Box Tops. Box Tops do expire!!!
  • Please note that eBox Tops will not count towards these totals! Although, we appreciate all eBox Top submittals, there is no way to track all of them to a specific classroom. eBox Tops will be included in the school totals, so please submit them. Only actual Box Tops that are turned into the teacher will count towards these classroom awards.


Before/After School Care and Enrichment Classes

Flagstaff Academy's in-house Dragon Flight program provides on-site before and after school care and enrichment classes. Dragon Flight provides students a warm, enriching environment while maintaining Flagstaff Academy's standards and values.

Dragon Flight Summer Camp 2017 - The Great Escape!

Dragon Flight is proud to present Summer Camp 2017: The Great Escape. We will spend our days decoding, unscrambling, and solving our way through the summer. Campers will become private eyes, investigators, explorers, examiners, inquirers, and analyzers, using Breakout.edu to experience our very own escape rooms. We will also offer a variety of activities including water play, outdoor and gym games, free play, technology, science, cooking, plus so much more.
       New this summer - Teen Camp!
We are be offering a Dragon Flight teen camp for students entering sixth grade to age 15, with  teen-specific field trips on Mondays and Wednesdays. They can also join regular summer camp for Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday field trips.

  Registration will open at 6:00pm on Friday, February 24th . Registration will fill quickly, so don't wait!

  • All students should meet in the cafeteria at 3:25 p.m. 
  • Every student should bring an afternoon snack to eat in the cafeteria during roll call. 
  • Students should wait on the white wall in the cafeteria after class for their parents to pick them up. Dragon Flight staff will sign each student out to their parents. 
  • Please use the cafeteria doors to pick your child up. You will need to fill out the door code waiver in order to receive a private code for entrance. Staff and other parents will not be letting people in.
