LEADERSHIP LETTER: Wayne Granger, Executive Director
Dragon Volunteers - You're An Essential Piece of our Puzzle!

Dear Dragon Families,

Charter Public Schools in Colorado have a budget gap created by having to use Per Pupil Operating Revenue (PPR) to fund our facility. It's a long-standing challenge that charter schools have always faced. One of the ways that Flagstaff Academy works to bridge this gap is through a robust volunteer program. Not only do our volunteers add to our amazing community, but they contribute productivity and work effort that would otherwise need to be funded by employees.

Each year, our fabulous volunteers contribute over 20,000 hours of their valuable time to our school. That is the equivalent of more than ten full time employees for our school! What, you ask, can possibly be done over the course of 20,000 hours in a school year? Our volunteers do everything! Help with reading or math centers. Manage our Lost and Found. Help with facility maintenance. Organize social events and raise money for our school on the PTO. Read to children. Lead our school on the Board of Directors. Evaluate and improve our academic program on the School Accountability Committee. Teach and judge robotics competitions and STEM fair. And that's just the short list!

Please join us next Thursday night, March 14th, at 6:30 p.m., for our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Night. Join fellow volunteers and staff members as we celebrate all that makes our Dragon volunteer program special. Comedian Wayne Faust will be performing and we will have appetizers, prizes, and elementary science teacher Stacy Wolff will be serving up a fun, science-themed mocktail. Plus, Dragon Flight will be providing free childcare so you don't even need to find a babysitter!

This is shaping up to be a unique, fun night where we celebrate Flagstaff Academy and the volunteers that make us great. Of course, the growth of our volunteer program would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of our Volunteer Coordinator, Jeannie Torres.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed their valuable time and talents as an essential piece of Flagstaff Academy. See you Thursday night!

Wayne Granger

2018-2019 Flagstaff Academy Parent Survey
YOUR VOICE MATTERS!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On  Monday, March 4th , you received an email from Dr. Josh Packard and the
Social Research Lab  inviting you to take the 2018-2019 Flagstaff Academy Parent Survey. Please take 5-10 minutes to provide us your valuable feedback to continue improving Flagstaff Academy to serve your family.  The survey period is open through Friday, March 22nd.

We have some really fun incentives for classes who have the highest survey return rates - the top elementary and middle school classes will get to have a "Free Dress" day!

We count on your feedback and thank you! Go Dragons!
Join the Board of Directors!

The Flagstaff Academy Board of Directors Elections Committee is now accepting applications for Board of Directors positions.

Members of the Board of Directors are volunteers responsible for providing oversight and governance for Flagstaff Academy in accordance with the mission and charter of the school. Board members help set and approve the school's annual budget, define school policies, help guide the academic mission, and oversee the work of the Executive Director and academic leadership.

This year we are seeking three (3) new members to join the Board of Directors. This year we have a particular need for Directors who have business management, legal, financial, or educational expertise . But most importantly, we are seeking people who have a passion to serve, work well as a team, think critically, are willing to learn, and will make decisions for the betterment of the school as a whole . We have had men and women from all walks of life serve successfully as members of the Board.

Serving the Board of Directors can have a very meaningful impact on our school, so please consider applying! Applications are available on Board of Directors Elections webpage, and are due by Friday, April 5, 2019 at 5:00PM MDT. If you have any questions about the elections process, please email Leah Herrera at lherrera@flagstaffacademy.org.

Go Dragons!
